Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–

Study of Histamine Forming Bacteria in Commercial fish samples of Kalyan city [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Histamine food poisoning is found to be associated with consumption of scombroid fish containing unusually high levels of histamine. Fish belonging to non-scombroid group may also cause histamine poisoning.

Influence of hydroxyethyl starch (6% HES 130/0.4) administration on hematology and clinical chemistry parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: The chemical inertness of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) might cause interferences of the colloid with a variety of laboratory tests. We aimed to evaluate potential influences of HES 130/0.4, the newest HES type, on several common hematology and ...

2D MOF with Intrinsic Porosity for Colorimetric Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An uncommon 2D MOF with intrinsic in‐plane porosity that can be mechanically exfoliated undergoes a distinct and reversible colour change upon exposure to various volatile organic compounds. ABSTRACT In this work, we report an uncommon 2D metal–organic framework (MOF) with intrinsic in‐plane porosity that undergoes a distinct and reversible colour ...

High temperature thermochromic polydiacetylenes: Design and colorimetric properties

open access: yesApplied Surface Science, 2017
Abstract Three novel polydiacetylenes (PDAs) are synthesized through the self-assembly followed by the topochemical polymerization via controllable electrophoretic deposition. All the samples could undergo a multi-step thermochromic process, turning purple and red successively over a wide range from room temperature to above 250 °C.
