Lattice Effects in the Colossal-Magnetoresistance Manganites

Physical Review Letters, 1996
We study the combined influence of spin double exchange and Jahn-Teller lattice coupling to holes in the ${\mathrm{La}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{A}_{x}{\mathrm{MnO}}_{3}$ perovskites ( $A\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{C}\mathrm{a},\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{S}\mathrm{r},\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{B}\mathrm{a}$).

Magnetism and colossal magnetoresistance of Tl2Mn2O7

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1999
Abstract While ferromagnetism in CMR perovskites is satisfactorily explained by double exchange, its nature in CMR pyrochlore Tl 2 Mn 2 O 7 is unclear. Here we investigate this problem by examining the pressure effect on the Curie temperature of pyrochlores A 2 Mn 2 O 7 , A=Tl, In, Y, Lu.

Colossal magnetoresistance and relaxation phenomena

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1998
The magnetization and magnetoresistance of (A = Sr, Ca) single crystals have been studied in the static regime. The same characteristics have been investigated as functions of time in response to a sharp change of the magnetic field. The magnetic moment M, dynamic magnetic susceptibility , and resistivity are found to relax noticeably in the samples ...

DYNAMICS AND LOCAL STRUCTURE OF COLOSSAL MAGNETORESISTANCE MANGANITES

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2000
We report Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure and anelastic spectroscopy measurements on hole doped manganese oxides La 1-x Ca x MnO 3 which present the colossal magnetoresistance effect. EXAFS measurements were realized both in the absence and presence of an applied magnetic field of 1.1 Tesla, in a wide temperature range (between 330 and 77 K ...

The overdoped colossal magnetoresistive manganites

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2007
The rich physics in the overdoped regime in colossal magnetoresistive manganites is discussed in detail. Apart from having a large magnetoresistance like its underdoped counterpart, the overdoped regime offers a rich variety of phenomena including magnetic, charge and orbital order at low temperatures.

Novel colossal magnetoresistance in NaCr2O4

Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 2013
NaCr2O4 was recently discovered using a high-pressure synthesis to occur in a calcium-ferrite-type structure, where one-dimensional electronic correlations and geometrical frustrations can coexist. It shows unconventional colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) at temperatures below antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of T

Mesoscopic Thermodynamics of an Inhomogeneous Colossal-Magnetoresistive Phase

Physical Review Letters, 2000
Equilibrium conductivity fluctuations of mesoscopic domains are found in film and bulk single-crystal manganite colossal magnetoresistive material. Temperature and field dependences of the Boltzmann factors for a collection of two-state fluctuators give measures of the magnetic moment and entropy differences between the states, and of the fluctuator ...
