The COM-B System of Behaviour Change: Properties, Problems and Prospects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The COM-B system of behaviour change is analysed. The system involves three processes termed "Capability", "Opportunity" and "Motivation". The crucial motivational element of "Wanting" is missing from the system. Wanting eliminates the intention-behaviour gap in explaining why people do or do not do the things necessary for their survival.

Lesion Site‐Targeted Microspheres Modulate Nav1.7‐Related Signaling for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cartilage‐targeted carbamazepine‐loaded WYRGRL‐modified composite microspheres (CBZ/WCOM) anchor to exposed type II collagen in osteoarthritic lesions and release carbamazepine under acidic conditions. This bind‐then‐release platform modulates Nav1.7‐related sodium signaling, Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger‐associated Ca2+ dynamics, and heat shock protein 70 ...

Evaluation of emotional excitation during standardized endotracheal intubation in simulated conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Intensive Care, 2018
Objective To assess how stressful conditions in endotracheal intubation could induct emotional excitation in a population of acute care physicians. Materials and methods Two situations were randomly tested: one in standard and easy intubation conditions ...

Tumor‐Specific Delivery of CD28 siRNA via Lyso‐PC C‐16 Modified Lipid Nanoparticles Overcomes Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance by Remodeling Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops 16:0 LPC‐modified lipid nanoparticles (LPC‐LNPs) with cancer cell specificity by exploiting altered tumor lipid metabolism. LPC‐LNPs encapsulating Cd28 small interfering RNA (LPC‐LNP‐Cd28) knock down cancer cell CD28 without affecting T cells, inflame the tumor microenvironment, and overcome anti‐PD‐1 resistance.

A Conserved DT2‐bZIP66‐NF‐YC4 Regulatory Module Confers Drought Tolerance in Rice and Arabidopsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a conserved tripartiteDT2–bZIP66–NF‐YC4 transcriptional module that enhances rice drought tolerance by activating stress‐responsive genes. This regulatory complex is functionally conserved across cereals and Arabidopsis, providing promising targets for engineering drought‐resilient crops. ABSTRACT Drought stress severely restricts

Barriers and facilitators to weight-loss in patients with overweight/obesity and cardiac disease: a realist qualitative synthesis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health & Well-Being
Purpose Lifestyle advice for cardiac patients with overweight/obesity includes weight management, yet few achieve significant weight loss. People with heart disease may require different support to the general population.

Nanopore‐Based Protein Deceleration and Sensing Using Graphene/Si3N4 Dual Membrane Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A graphene/Si3N4 dual membrane cavity system achieves multi‐stage protein deceleration through spatial geometry. Multi‐level current traces provide high‐resolution spatial localization and early warning signals. ABSTRACT Sequencing of protein with nanopores has emerged as a powerful tool offering rapid readout, high accuracy, low cost, and portability.

Whole‐Genome Sequencing Pilot of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project Reveals Distinct Histories, Adaptation, and Introgression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a pilot phase of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project, whole‐genome sequencing of 166 individuals from 20 Central Asian and Afghan Hazara populations reveals fine‐scale substructure shaped by repeated trans‐Eurasian migration and admixture. Integrated analyses uncover post‐admixture adaptation, archaic introgression, and medically relevant ...

Fully Programmable Slow Light Based on a Spinor Representation of Generalized Coupled‐Resonator‐Induced Transparency

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable coupled‐resonator‐induced transparency (CRIT) platform is proposed, generalizing classical electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) via a spinor representation. By utilizing dual‐channel gauge fields and universal unitary operations, this architecture enables dynamically engineered, reconfigurable slow‐light bands on a silicon ...

Gap‐Free Information Transfer in 4D‐STEM via Fusion of Complementary Scattering Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fused Full‐Field STEM (FF‐STEM) is introduced as a 4D‐STEM imaging modality that combines direct ptychography with tilt‐corrected dark‐field reconstruction in a single acquisition. Fourier‐space fusion using Wiener‐type spectral weighting closes the low‐frequency contrast gap inherent to bright‐field methods, delivering gap‐free, dose‐efficient, near ...
