Combination technique coefficients via error splittings

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate a new way of choosing combination coefficients for the sparse grid combination technique. Previous work considered choosing coefficients such that the interpolation error of sufficiently smooth functions is minimised.

Asthma control in patients receiving inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta2-agonist fixed combinations. A real-life study comparing dry powder inhalers and a pressurized metered dose inhaler extrafine formulation

open access: yes, 2011
Background Although patients have more problems using metered dose inhalers, clinical comparisons suggest they provide similar control to dry powder inhalers.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Combination Technique For Gingival Depigmentation: Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Gingival hyperpigmentation most often caused by genetic factors, and the condition is different at every race that occurs due to excessive deposition of melanin pigment in the basal layer of the gingival epithelium. Gingival depigmentation is

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A Dimension Adaptive Combination Technique Using Localised Adaptation Criteria

open access: yes, 2012
Summary. We present a dimension adaptive sparse grid combination technique for the machine learning problem of regression. A function over a d-dimensional space, which assumedly describes the relationship between the features and the response variable ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Opticom and the iterative combination technique for convex minimisation

open access: yes, 2015
Since “A combination technique for the solution of sparse grid problems” Griebel et al. (1992), the sparse grid combination technique has been successfully employed to approximate sparse grid solutions of multi-dimensional problems.
