Neutralization of the PTX3/CD44 axis suppresses TGF‐β1 signaling in kidney fibrosis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the PTX3/CD44 axis promotes kidney fibrosis by activating TGF‐β1 signaling. We demonstrate that the neutralizing antibody WHC‐001 effectively inhibits this pathway, suppressing myofibroblast activation and partial epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Combined modality treatment of American Burkittapos;s lymphoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1976
Fifteen American patients with Burkitt's lymphoma were treated in a clinical trial employing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Two patients died during induction, and 13 achieved complete responses. Eight patients relapsed at a median of 11 weeks from initial treatment, and seven of these have died.

Conceivability, Apriority and Modality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
I aim to understand whether apriority entails necessity, aposteriority entails contingency and conceivability entails possibility; that is, the relationship between, and the nature of, rationality and modality.

Unlocking the potential of cell‐permeable nanobodies for intracellular applications

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review outlines current strategies for delivery of nanobodies into cells and highlights recent examples of functional applications. By addressing and manipulating intracellular targets, these molecules hold great potential for treating cancer, respiratory diseases and neurological disorders, making this a vibrant area of research in the biomedical

Results of combined modality treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics, 2009
Radiotherapy is the cornerstone of treatment in nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC); the addition of chemotherapy has shown improved results. To compare the results of concurrent chemoradiation with that of radiotherapy alone in NPC.One hundred and ninety consecutive NPC patients, without distant metastasis, who reported to the institute from January 1992 to ...

Treatment of advanced-stage massive mediastinal Hodgkin's disease: the case for combined modality treatment.

open access: yes, 1991
In the initial series of 198 patients treated at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) with mechlorethamine, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone (MOPP) chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease, a review of presenting chest radiographs available on 192 of ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...
