On Global Combine Operations

Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, 1994
Abstract We discuss a hybrid strategy for implementing global combine operations on distributed memory Multiple Instruction Multiple Data multicomputers. A theoretical analysis is given and results from its implementation on the Intel iPSC/860 are reported.

Combinations of integral operators

Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2013
In the present article we introduce a general sequence of summation-integral operators. The special cases of which are the well known Phillips and the Szasz-Beta operators. Here we consider the linear combinations of Szasz-Beta operators and establish a Voronovskaja-type theorem and a direct result in terms of higher order modulus of continuity.

On the semantics of combination operations

Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics, 2001
Intelligent agents are often faced with the problem of trying to combine possibly conflicting pieces of information obtained from different sources into a coherent view of the world. We propose a framework for the modelling of such combination operations with roots in the work of Spohn [Spo88, Spo91]. We construct a number of combination operations and

Combine - Combine Operator Communication

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1968

Combined Anesthesia in Operative Dentistry

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1951
The progress of dentistry has been related closely to the control of pain. It is prob ably more than coincidence that the first dental school and the first dental journal appeared during the same year that Horace Wells1 employed nitrous oxide for extractions. Significant advances in local anesthesia were made when Rynde (1845) developed the hypodermic

The "Combined" Operation for Peptic Ulcer

Archives of Surgery, 1960
In 1953 we published the early results of a "combined" operation for peptic ulcer, comprising partial distal gastrectomy (antrectomy), vagotomy, and gastroduodenal (Billroth I) reconstruction. 11 Since that time, our experience in the application of this operation has enlarged, and we are now able to provide data on a group of 137 patients treated by ...

Combined transport operation

1982
In international trade a multi-modal or combined transport service entails the use of more than one mode of transport on a particular journey offered by a single operator acting as principal for the entire journey. It is thus a through transport service from door to door or warehouse to warehouse; it is orientated to the needs of the user in that it ...

Operators and Laws for Combining Preference Relations

Journal of Logic and Computation, 2002
The authors define the concept of priority operator. It maps a family of relations to a single relation which represents their lexicographic combination according to a certain priority on the family of relations. The paper is a theoretical study of such operators for combining ordering relations.

Combined Operation for Facial Palsy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1973
A surgical technique for cases of longterm facial palsy is described. An elastic element is included in both eyelids to give them mobility. This is accompanied by correction of ectropion of the lower lid and of ptosis of the eyebrow.
