A simple model for current velocity profiles in combined wave-current flows

Coastal Engineering, 1994
Abstract Current velocity profiles in combined wave-current flows are investigated on the basis of available laboratory and field data. From the laboratory measurements of Van Doorn's (1982) S10RAL, S20RAL, M10RAL and M20RAL, it is found that there exists a boundary interaction layer (which includes the wave boundary layer) where the current eddy ...

Forces on the Cognac Platform in Combined Storm Waves and Currents

Offshore Technology Conference, 1989
ABSTRACT Forces on platforms composed of slender members in combined waves and currents have usually been calculated by summing the wave and current velocities before squaring them and applying the appropriate drag coefficient in Morison's equation. Recent measurements at the Lena guyed tower have cast doubt on this

Eddy viscosities and velocities in combined wave-current flows

Ocean Engineering, 1994
Abstract The eddy viscosities for the steady and the periodic components of combined wave-current flows have been studied quantitatively from the presently available experimental data. It has been found that inside the boundary interaction layer [z δ] it is affected little by the wave motion, and that the eddy viscosity ew for the wave motion in the

Sediment transport measurements in combined wave-current flows

1994
A series of experiments were carried out in the Large Oscillating Water Tunnel of Delft Hydraulics in the end of 1993. The aim of the investigation was to study the behaviour of the sediment and water flow in the wave-current boundary layer in the sheet flow regime. Four conditions with sinusoidal waves and net currents were realized.

Current wave of opioid crisis run by fentanyl combinations

Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Weekly
The fourth wave of the opioid crisis continues to grow increasingly complex, dominated by “fentanyl plus” combinations of drugs that, in some cases, predictably follow historical patterns, and in others, turn logic on its ear. A leading national researcher on drug‐using behavior told ADAW that unlike fentanyl's original imposition into the drug supply,
