Cytotoxic pentacyclic triterpenes from Combretum nigricans

Fitoterapia, 2003
A new pentacyclic triterpene, 11alpha-acetoxy-20,24-epoxy-25-hydroxy-dammar-3-one (1), has been isolated from the African tree Combretum nigricans, together with the known corresponding diol, 20,24-epoxy-11alpha, 25-dihydroxy-dammar-3-one (2). They are responsible, at least in part, for the cytotoxic activity of the methanolic extract of the plant.

Antiulcerogenic activity of Combretum leprosum.

Die Pharmazie, 2009
This study investigates the effects of an ethanolic extract from the stem bark of Combretum leprosum Mart. & Eiche (Combretaceae) on experimental ulcers induced by ethanol and indomethacin and on gastric secretion and mucus content in pylorus-ligated rats. The effects were compared with those of ranitidine and carbenoxolone.

Cycloartane triterpenes from Combretum quadrangulare

Phytochemistry, 1998
Abstract In addition to two known flavonoids, kumatakenin and isokaempferide, three new cycloartane triterpenes were isolated from the leaves of Combretum quadrangulare . Their structures were established by the means of 1D and 2D NMR techniques and physical data (MS, IR) as 1α,3β-dihydroxy-cycloart-24-ene-30-carboxylic acid, 1α,3β-dihydroxy ...

Pentacyclic triterpenes from Combretum nigricans

Phytochemistry, 1996
Abstract From the bark of Combretum nigricans , four pentacyclic triterpenes have been isolated and their structures elucidated from spectral data as the known arjungenin and arjunglucoside, a new pentacyclic triterpene, combregenin (2α,3β,6β,19α,23-pentahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid) and a new saponin, combreglucoside (β- d -glucopyranosyl 2α,3β ...

Cell Growth Inhibitor Constituents From Combretum Kraussii

Natural Product Letters, 1993
Abstract New and known combretastatins and their 2′-O-glucosides have been isolated from seeds of Combretum kraussii (Hochst.) (Combreiaceae). They showed in vitro cytoxicity and influenced the tubulin polymerization.

Cytotoxic cycloartane-type triterpenes from Combretum quadrangulare

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1998
Seven novel cycloartane-type triterpenes were isolated from Combretum quadrangulare, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis. All these compounds were tested for their cytotoxicity against murine colon 26-L5 carcinoma cells. Methyl quadrangularate B (2) and methyl quadrangularate D (4) exhibited potent cytotoxicity having
