Large Eddy Simulation of combustion instabilities in a lean partially premixed swirled flame [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper investigates one issue related to Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of self- excited combustion instabilities in gas-fueled swirled burners: the effects of incom- plete mixing between the gas injection and the combustion chamber.

Mass Spectrometric Investigation of the Influence of Water Vapour and Oxygen on Gas‐Phase Reactions of Aluminium Acetylacetonate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The gas‐phase decomposition of Al(acac)3 is investigated under inert, oxygen, and water‐containing conditions. Water is found to promote selective ligand removal and suppress hydrocarbon formation, while oxygen induces faster, less selective decomposition pathways.

Study on radiation heat transfer characteristics of aeroengine combustion chamber

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao
The thermal radiation of gaseous combustion products in an aero-engine combustion chamber has obvious non-ash-body characteristics. In this paper, based on the OpenFOAM platform, a numerical study on multi-field coupled turbulence-combustion-radiation ...

Plasma igniter for internal combustion engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
An igniter for the air/fuel mixture used in the cylinders of an internal combustion engine is described. A conventional spark is used to initiate the discharge of a large amount of energy stored in a capacitor.

Additively Manufactured Porous Ceramics as Tunable Dielectrics for Passive Temperature Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Porous ceramic lattices, 3D‐printed from a multicomponent oxide ink, are integrated with LC resonators for passive wireless temperature sensing. By tuning porosity, the dielectric properties and RF response are engineered to produce distinct resonant frequency shifts with temperature. The results establish a structure‐driven approach to customizing the

Advanced Numerical Analysis of In-Cylinder Combustion and NOx Formation Using Different Chamber Geometries

open access: yesFire
In diesel engines, emission formation inside the combustion chamber is a complex phenomenon. The combustion events inside the chamber occur in microseconds, affecting the overall engine performance and emissions characteristics.

Record Performance in Vertically Stacked, Solution‐Processed ZTO Schottky Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Schottky diodes based on solution processed sustainable zinc—tin–oxide thin films present an eco‐friendly and versatile alternative to conventional CMOS based technologies. Beyond state‐of‐the‐art performance for vertically stacked solution‐based oxide diodes was achieved, including rectification ratios exceeding nine orders of magnitude, and intrinsic

Effect of structural parameters of active pre-chamber on ammonia/hydrogen premixed combustion process: A numerical investigation

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The development of zero-carbon fuels is of great significance for reducing carbon emissions. Using an ammonia/hydrogen mixture as fuel, the combustion in engine through an active pre-chamber has a good effect on reducing carbon emissions.

The N.A.C.A. Combustion Chamber Gas-sampling Valve and Some Preliminary Test Results [PDF]

open access: yes
A gas sampling valve of the inertia-operated type was designed for procuring samples of the gases in the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines at identical points in successive cycles so that the analysis of the gas samples thus procured may ...
