Striking for a Just Transition? North American Auto Unions and the Electric Vehicle Transition

open access: yesIndustrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Decarbonization heightens risks for workers, but union strategies shape how these risks are managed and whether new jobs offer quality employment. This paper compares U.S. and Canadian auto unions during the 2023 Detroit Three bargaining, focusing on strategic capacities and internal politics to explain their divergent responses to the EV ...

Modelling of turbulent swirling flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis investigates the predictability of non-reacting and reacting anistropic turbulent, swirling flows using popular turbulence models with a robust numrical procedure. The performance of these turbulence models is assessed and compared against

A Long‐Run Perspective on Unconditional Convergence in Manufacturing: Evidence From U.S. Industrialisation

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines long‐run unconditional convergence of labour productivity in manufacturing across 48 contiguous U.S. states. We construct a detailed panel data set of state‐industry pairs with over 120 industries covering the period 1880–2007.

Brain strain: Blood flow and metabolism in environmental extremes

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract This narrative review compares and contrasts the most commonly encountered environmental stressors on human cerebrovascular functioning. From high altitude and space, extreme apnoea, heat and cold stress, the impact of these stressors on the regulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and oxygen metabolism (CMRO2${\mathrm{CM}}{{\mathrm{R}}_ ...

Experimental study of combustion and scalar mixing in swirling jet flows

open access: yes
Turbulent mixing of passive scalar field and combustion of gaseous fuel were studied in the context of a non-premixed isothermal and reacting swirling jets discharged from a swirl-stabilised burner, as a function of swirl number.

Self-Exited Oscillation in a Combustion Chamber Driven by Phase Change in the Liquid Fuel Feed System

open access: yes, 2010
A new mechanism for the generation of a self-exited oscillation of combustion in a generic combustion chamber typical for aero-engine combustors is described.

Antistatic High‐Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/Conductive Carbon Black (CCB) Composites for Automotive Parts: Influence of CCB Structure and Molding Technique

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 29, August 5, 2026.
Antistatic performance in HDPE/conductive carbon black composites is governed not only by filler structure but also by processing. Injection molding induces surface resistivity through skin–core effects, whereas compression molding favors conductive networks.

Analysis of heat release characteristics of methane/air lean premixed bluff-body flames

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao
To investigate the heat release characteristics of methane/air lean premixed bluff-body flames, this study employs experimental methods based on CH* chemiluminescence to examine the effects of equivalence ratio, inlet flow rate, and acoustic excitation ...

Diamagnetically Levitated Sensing Platforms Made With Surface‐Insulated and Magnetically Aligned Graphite Particles

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 6, Issue 4, July 2026.
Diamagnetic levitation striking an ideal balance of the lifting force with the high mechanical quality factor is reported. Surface‐insulated particles of graphite in slurry are magnetically aligned before drying up into a solid plate. Alignment is tailored according to the magnet used for levitation.
