Supersonic Combustion Mode Analysis of a Cavity Based Scramjet

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
Since flame stability is the key to the performance of scramjets, scramjet combustion mode and instability characteristics were investigated by using the POD method based on a cavity-stabilized scramjet. Experiments were developed on a directly connected

Combustion Driven Oscillation

open access: yesJournal of the Fuel Society of Japan, 1971
The combustion in propulsion engines or industrial furnaces is never perfectly smooth and is usually accompanied with random fluctuations in the combustion rate as well as in pressure and velocity. When the pressure fluctuation becomes in phase with the fluctuation in the heat release rate of combustion, the fluctuation will develop into the organized ...

Servo-Stabilization of Low-Frequency Oscillations in a Liquid Bipropellant Rocket Motor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1953
The recent work of H. S. Tsien concerning the servostabilization of rocket motors is extended to the liquid bipropellant rocket motor. It is shown that by use of a feedback system containing a device to sense the combustion chamber pressure, a suitably ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Effects of LOX Particle Diameter on Combustion Characteristics of a Gas-Liquid Pintle Rocket Engine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2020
LOX/GCH4 pintle injector is suitable for variable-thrust liquid rocket engines. In order to provide a reference for the later design and experiments, three-dimensional numerical simulations with the Euler-Lagrange method were performed to study the ...

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses

Oscillating flames in micro-combustion

open access: yesCombustion and Flame, 2016
New experimental results that demonstrate the existence of oscillating flames in micro-combustion are reported here. The results showed the presence of oscillating regimes with different behaviors in the transition between the stable flames, FREI (Flame with Repetitive Extinction and Ignition), and weak flames.

Positively Charged Polymer‐Brush MOFs for Large‐Area, Pressure‐Resistant Gas Separation Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A universal POPA strategy enables positively charged polymer‐brush MOFs with self‐adaptive interfacial interlocking to resist aggregation under fast processing. This design ensures seamless dispersion within large‐area selective layers, achieving 1 m‐wide roll‐to‐roll fabrication of pressure‐resistant MMCMs with tunable CO2 separation performance ...
