Reynolds analogy in combustor modeling
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2007Accurate temperature prediction is vital for the development of advanced combustion systems. The Reynolds analogy concept has been almost exclusively used in current turbulent reacting flow RANS simulations. In this paper, this hypothesis applied to a diffusion flame model combustor is discussed and assessed. Some of the numerical results obtained from

Noise Generated in a Scramjet Combustor
AIAA SCITECH 2023 Forum, 2023This paper presents the noise levels generated inside a two-dimensional scramjet combustor at Mach 7.3 freestream using the focused laser differential interferometric (FLDI) technique. FLDI measurements were taken at the front, middle, and rear of the combustor’s center plane under unfueled, combustion-suppressed, and combustion-on conditions ...

Effects of Injector-Combustor Geometry on the Performance of Supersonic Combustor
Combustion Science and Technology, 1998Abstract Experimental studies were made on supersonic combustion in a two dimensional combustor using Hydrogen as fuel. A Hydrogen vitiation air heater with oxygen replenishment was used for simulating high temperature air entering the supersonic combustor.

Compressor/Diffuser/Combustor Aerodynamic Interactions in Lean Module Combustors
Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2007The paper reports an experimental investigation into the possibility of increased interactions between combustor external aerodynamics and upstream components, e.g., prediffuser, compressor outlet guide vane (OGV), and even the compressor rotor, caused by the trend in lean module fuel injectors to larger mass flows entering the combustor cowl.

Radiation Benchmarking in a Model Combustor
Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2008Radiation heat transfer in a model combustor with interior and exterior conjugate heat transfers has been numerically studied. The previous investigations on turbulence, combustion, and scalar transfer modeling (Reynolds analogy), and comparisons with a comprehensive experimental database provide a reliable base to evaluate the effect of radiation heat

LES of the Hyshot Scramjet Combustor
48th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting Including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2010With the overall goal to clarify the physics of com pressible (supersonic) combustion, a 3D LES of the HyShot supersonic combustor has been performed and is reported in this paper. HyShot is an (originally) Australian p rogram to assess feasibility of supersonic combustion by means of a ballistic test flight.

Turbulence Modeling in a Model Combustor
Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal, 2005The flow field of a propane-air diffusion flame combustor with interior and exterior conjugate heat transfers was numerically investigated. Solutions obtained from four turbulence models together with a laminar flamelet combustion model, discrete ordinates radiation model and enhanced wall treatment are presented and discussed.
