A 400‐Year Sediment Record of Tsunamis in Qi'ao Island, Centered at Guangdong‐Hong Kong‐Macao Greater Bay Area

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 19, 16 October 2025.
Abstract Identifying tsunamis and determining inundation extent is critical for coastal hazard assessment. We identify potential tsunami deposits in the Guangdong‐Hong Kong‐Macao Greater Bay Area that occurred in 1555 ± 135 CE using a multidisciplinary approach.

A Novel Approach to Tsunami Prediction Using Ambient Noise‐Derived Green's Functions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 5, 16 March 2025.
Abstract Conventional tsunami simulations rely on accurate bathymetric data, posing challenges in regions lacking such information. We introduce a novel approach using ambient noise interferometry to derive empirical Green's functions of infragravity waves from noise correlation functions (NCFs) extracted from a 10‐year Deep‐ocean Assessment and ...

Climate‐Driven Sea Level Rise Exacerbates Alaskan and Cascadian Tsunami Hazards in Southern California: Implications to Design Parameters

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Tsunami hazards in Southern California are expected to be exacerbated by the climate change driven sea level rise (SLR). Two key questions are how relevant is this exacerbation and whether tsunami design parameters are significantly affected. We perform a non‐stationary probabilistic tsunami hazard assessment (nPTHA) in the Southern California

On Dislocation Modeling of Megathrust Tsunami Sources

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Modeling tsunamis due to subduction earthquakes for scientific research and hazard assessment requires accurate quantification of coseismic seafloor deformation. Although the widely used analytical model of shear dislocation in a uniform elastic half space can accommodate complex fault geometry and slip distribution, it fails to capture the ...

The prediction of tsunami travel time to Mataram City Indonesia based on North Lombok earthquake as the initial condition

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The past earthquake records in North Lombok show the high level of earthquake hazard in this area. The maximum magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4 Mw on May 30th, 1979. But, there were no tsunami events records due to those earthquakes.
