Comet C/2011 L4 (PanStarrs): Small nucleus, fast rotator and dust rich comet observed after perihelion [PDF]
Orbital elements of C2011 L4 (PanStarrs) Oort cloud comet, computed by MPC (Minor Planet Center, Minor Planet Electronic Circular 2012-T08), show that the closest approach to the Sun occurred on 2013 March 10th, at about 0.3 A.U., then about 4,51x10^7 km. Discovered by Richard Wainscoat (Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii) on four CCD images

Spectrophotometry and structural analysis of 5 comets [PDF]
We discuss the morphology and spectrophotometry of 5 comets visible in August, 2001. We decompose comae into coma profiles and azimuthally renormalized images, in which general and local features are quantitatively comparable. Comet 19P/Borrelly showed a strong gas fan toward the solar direction, but no detectable gas in the tail.

The Dust Tail of Asteroid (3200) Phaethon
We report the discovery of a comet-like tail on asteroid (3200) Phaethon when imaged at optical wavelengths near perihelion. In both 2009 and 2012, the tail appears >=350" (2.5x10^8 m) in length and extends approximately in the projected anti-solar ...

DNA damage in BALB/c mice infected with Lacazia loboi and its relation to nutritional status
Background Jorge Lobo’s disease, also known as lacaziosis, is a cutaneous-subcutaneous mycosis with chronic evolution. It is caused by the fungus Lacazia loboi. Herein we report a study that relates the genotoxicity caused by L.

Drain away the earth's oceans and a global pattern of great ridges appears. Adjacent to these continental and undersea mountain ranges are layers of silt and clay, so thick that they fill the gaps between ridges, creating extensive plateaus. Ranging across this planet's higher latitudes are thousands of tiny replicas of these ridge systems. These esker

Initial overview of disconnection events in Halley's Comet 1986 [PDF]
We present an initial overview of the disconnection events (DE's) in Comet Halley in 1986. Although disconnection events are arguably the most spectacular of all dynamic comet phenomena, the mechanisms by which they occur are not fully understood.

Modelling the light-curve of KIC 12557548b: an extrasolar planet with a comet like tail
An object with a very peculiar light-curve was discovered recently using Kepler data. Authors argue that this object may be a transiting disintegrating planet with a comet like dusty tail. We calculate the light-curves of stars with such planets and take

Indirect solar wind measurements using archival cometary tail observations [PDF]
The paper addressed to the problem of the solar wind behaviour during the Maunder Minimum. Records on plasma tails of comets would allow to shed light on the physical parameters of the solar wind in the past. We analyse descriptions and drawings of comets to the eighteenth century.

Abstract The US Department of Justice's increasing use of deferred prosecution and non‐prosecution agreements (D/NPAs) over the past two decades has sparked debate about their merits compared with traditional plea deals, which often result in criminal convictions.
