Computer generated pictures of comets

Acta Astronautica, 1979
Abstract The conditions in a comet are simulated and the optical picture of the coma and the tail is plotted by use of a computer program which was developed according to Whipple's theory. The model includes local and global variations of evaporation, brightness, repulsive forces, thermal velocity and lifetime of the compounds.

Generation of Unbound Comets and Planets by Planetary Systems

Astronomy Reports, 2020
We present a three-dimensional model of the evolution of the asteroid–cometary–planetary (ACP) component of the Solar System under the gravitational influence of Jupiter. We demonstrate the origin of the Kuiper belt of the Sun, the Oort cloud of the Sun and Jupiter, as well as the ACP “spear,” which becomes elongated with time and transforms into a ...

Comet

Proceedings of the 15th French-speaking conference on human-computer interaction on 15eme Conference Francophone sur l'Interaction Homme-Machine - IHM 2003, 2003
Adaptation of User Interfaces (UI) to context of use is becoming a major issue in HCI. By context of use, we mean the triplet. Plasticity refers to the ability of UIs to withstand variations of context of use while preserving usability. Based on a reference framework that provides designers with a powerful tool for reasoning about plasticity, this ...

Generation of low‐frequency waves at comet Halley

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1990
In this paper we investigate the extent to which the properties of the waves observed at comet Halley during the Giotto encounter can be understood within the context of linearized Vlasov theory. In the region that is magnetically connected to the comet, fluctuations in the plasma frame of reference are detected near 4 and 10 mHz, close to the water ...

Motor/generator controller design for the COMET flywheel

IECEC '02. 2002 37th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2002., 2005
This work describes the process of designing and implementing a controller for a permanent magnet synchronous motor/generator to be used to demonstrate the momentum and energy transfer capabilities of a new flywheel system. Selection of the motor/generator controller algorithm and architecture is discussed.
