A Satellite Handover Strategy Based on the Potential Game in LEO Satellite Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, handover management across satellite spot beams needs to be addressed to decrease handover times while using network resources efficiently since the speed of LEO satellites is much higher than that of mobile ...

A New Benchmark for Instance-Level Image Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Although fine-grained image classification is able to classify more fine-grained sub-categories compared to its coarse-grained counterpart, it often fails to identify individual instances.

Meta-analysis of the effects of ambient temperature and relative humidity on the risk of mumps

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Many studies have shown that the relationship between ambient temperature, relative humidity and mumps has been highlighted. However, these studies showed inconsistent results.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Model inductive bias enhanced deep reinforcement learning for robot navigation in crowded environments

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
Navigating mobile robots in crowded environments poses a significant challenge and is essential for the coexistence of robots and humans in future intelligent societies. As a pragmatic data-driven approach, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) holds promise

Multi-Level Metric Learning Network for Fine-Grained Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The application of fine-grained image classification can be problematic due to subtle differences between classes. The existing global feature-based methods have worse accuracies than regional feature-based methods, because regional feature-based methods

Representation Learning of Knowledge Graphs With Entity Attributes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Most of the existing knowledge representation learning methods project the entities and relations represented by symbols in the knowledge graph into the low-dimensional vector space from the perspective of the structure and semantics of triples, and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Relative Autonomy and Navigation for Command and Control of Low-Cost Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2019
The underwater environment severely constrains robotic navigation and communications, making the use of traditional multi-robot control and coordination schemes very difficult.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.
