Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Commercial Fishing Port Development in North Florida [PDF]

open access: yes
The author has identified the following significant results. Seven major counties were examined: Escambia, Bay, Gulf, Franklin, Wakulla, Nassau, and Duval. Population and economic activity were reviewed, along with commercial fishing and port facilities.

In‐Depth Profiling Highlights the Effect of Efgartigimod on Peripheral Innate and Adaptive Immune Cells in Myasthenia Gravis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by antibody‐mediated complement activation. Efgartigimod, a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) antagonist, is approved for treating generalized MG (gMG). However, its modulatory effects on upstream innate and adaptive immune cells remain largely unexplored.

Human and environmental gradients predict catch, effort, and species composition in a large Micronesian coral-reef fishery.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The consistent supply of fresh fish to commercial markets may mask growing fishing footprints and localized depletions, as fishing expands to deeper/further reefs, smaller fish, and more resilient species.

Using Participation Data to Estimate Fishing Costs for Commercial Salmon Fisheries in Alaska [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates the fishing costs and the returns to fishing for nine commercial salmon fleets in Alaska. The econometric model uses a two-stage least squares estimation procedure to estimate the effect of congestion and heterogeneity on the returns

Species Trends in Sport Fisheries, Monterey Bay, Calif., 1959-86 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Three surveys spanning 28 years were examined for changes in species caught by recreational fishermen from small boats (skiffs) and commercial passenger fishing vessels (CPFV's) in California's Monterey Bay region.

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of SOX1 Antibody‐Associated Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes: A Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background SOX1 antibody‐positive paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) exhibit significant population‐specific clinical heterogeneity. While Western cohorts predominantly manifest Lambert‐Eaton myasthenic syndrome (65%–80%), comprehensive clinical characterization and treatment response data in Asian populations remain critically ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
