Ultra-Low Noise Microwave Extraction from Fiber-Based Optical Frequency Comb

open access: yes, 2009
In this letter, we report on all-optical fiber approach to the generation of ultra-low noise microwave signals. We make use of two erbium fiber mode-locked lasers phase locked to a common ultra-stable laser source to generate an 11.55 GHz signal with an ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Fundamental study of common mode small-signal frequency oscillations in power systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2019
Abstract This paper performs a fundamental study of very low frequency oscillations characterized by a common mode shape at all system busses (same magnitude and phase). Also known as global or frequency control oscillation mode (below 0.1 Hz), it determines frequency response performance according to NERC requirements. When poorly damped, it poses a

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A D-Band CMOS Linearity-Enhanced Low-Noise Amplifier Using Multiple-Gated Transistors Technique

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, a D-band low-noise amplifier (LNA) using the linearity-enhanced technique in 40-nm CMOS process is presented. In this D-band LNA, multiple-gated transistors are used to improve the third-order intercept point (IIP3) while maintaining ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Fault Diagnosis Scheme for Rolling Bearing Based on Particle Swarm Optimization in Variational Mode Decomposition

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2016
Variational mode decomposition (VMD) is a new method of signal adaptive decomposition. In the VMD framework, the vibration signal is decomposed into multiple mode components by Wiener filtering in Fourier domain, and the center frequency of each mode ...

Low current linearization of magnetic amplifier for dc transducer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A magnetic amplifier having two saturable reactor cores with a separate excitation winding on each connected in series opposition, a common control winding, and a common output winding, is adapted for use as a low level signal transducer.
