Rethinking Thorne–Żytkow Object Formation: Assembly via Common Envelope in Field Binaries
Thorne–Żytkow objects (TŻOs), hypothetical merger products in which a neutron star is embedded in a stellar core, are traditionally considered steady-state configurations. Their assembly, especially through dynamical channels, is not well understood. The

Adiabatic Mass Loss and the Outcome of the Common Envelope Phase of Binary Evolution
We have developed a new method for calculating common envelope (CE) events based on explicit consideration of the donor star's structural response to adiabatic mass loss.

Common Envelope Evolution on a Moving Mesh
The common envelope phase in binary star systems is simulated using the 3-D moving-mesh hydrodynamic code MANGA. Improvements to MANGA to improve accuracy and computation time are discussed. Two open questions in the physics of common envelope evolution are investigated.

From Common Envelope to Pre-Cataclysmic Variables: An Observational Test of Common Envelope Evolution [PDF]
The generally accepted evolutionary scenario for cataclysmic variables (CVs) is common envelope (CE) evolution (Iben & Livio 1993) proposed by Paczyñski (1976). The secondary spirals towards the giant’s compact core converting orbital energy into kinetic energy of the giant’s envelope and the envelope is ejected.

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

Mechanoregulatory Effects of Cell‐Scale Microwells on Epithelial Cell Phenotype
In small polycaprolactone microwells, A549 epithelial cells span well edges, in contrast to cells growing on flat substrates. Focal adhesion sites (yellow) concentrate at topographic boundaries, while cytoskeletal tension (magenta stress fibers) is transmitted to the nucleus (blue), reducing nuclear sphericity.

Modelling the closest double degenerate system RXJ0806.3+1527 and its decreasing period
In the hypothesis that the 5.4m binary RXJ0806.3+1527 consists of a low mass helium white dwarf (donor) transferring mass towards its more massive white dwarf companion (primary), we consider as possible donors white dwarfs which are the result of common

Ru single atoms and RuP nanoclusters are co‐anchored in N, P, and B co‐doped porous carbon nanospheres via in situ carbonization/phosphidation of a boronate polymer precursor. RuP activates water, while nearby Ru single atoms accelerate H2 formation through H* transfer. The catalyst delivers low overpotential and high durability in alkaline HER and AEM

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Modeling High Mass X-Ray Binaries to Double Neutron Stars through Common Envelope Evolution
We present detailed evolutionary simulations of wide binary systems with high-mass (8–20 M _⊙ ) donor stars and a 1.4 M _⊙ neutron star. Mass transfer in such binaries is dynamically unstable, and common envelope (CE) evolution is followed.
