Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Common and Special Knowledge-Driven TSK Fuzzy System and Its Modeling and Application for Epileptic EEG Signals Recognition

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy systems are well known for their good balances between approximation accuracy and interpretability. Among a wide variety of existing TSK fuzzy systems, most of them are driven by special knowledge since the learned ...

Capturing Common Knowledge about Tasks

open access: yes, 2012
Although to-do lists are a ubiquitous form of personal task management, there has been no work on intelligent assistance to automate, elaborate, or coordinate a users to-dos. Our research focuses on three aspects of intelligent assistance for to-dos.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

The Proof Theory of Common Knowledge

open access: yes, 2018
Common knowledge of a proposition A can be characterized by the following infinitary conjunction: everybody knows A and everybody knows that everybody knows A and everybody knows that everybody knows that everybody knows A and so on.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

ROI-Based Multimodal Neuroimaging Feature Fusion Method and Its Graph Neural Network Diagnostic Model

open access: yesIEEE Access
Single-modality neuroimaging data often provide limited information and are constrained by technical issues such as signal-to-noise ratio, and resolution limitations, potentially leading to biases and an incomplete understanding of brain complexities ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Software Maintenance as Materialization of Common Knowledge

open access: yesEngaging Science, Technology, and Society
While development of software always implicitly takes place in contexts of inherited entanglements and legacies, its maintenance deals explicitly with what is already present.

INTERSUBJECTIVE CONSISTENCY OF KNOWLEDGE AND BELIEF [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider interactive epistemic models where individuals are described by both their ""knowledge"" and their ""beliefs."" Three intersubjective consistency conditions are examined: Intersubjective Caution (if an individual believes something to be ...
