Screening procedure for assessment of ototoxicity in the common marmoset
Journal of Pharmacological Methods, 1990Detection of drug-induced ototoxicity in safety evaluation studies of novel chemical entities is rarely attempted. Where such examinations are included, they usually rely on reflex testing. The Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response can be measured with the use of externally positioned electrodes, and it monitors electrophysiologic responses to sound from ...

Callithrix jacchus (Common marmoset)
1967Like other marmosets, this species bears fraternal twins and most animals are blood chimerae. There appears to be polymorphism of the structure of Y. In some of our specimens it is the smallest metacentric element as shown here, in other specimens this is a minute chromosome having an apparent subtelocentric configuration (Wohnus and Benirschke).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Common Marmoset Head
Alternatives to Laboratory Animals, 1998This study evaluated the changes in the intrinsic magnetic resonance (MR) relaxation parameter values (T1; T2, proton density, magnetisation transfer and apparent diffusion coefficient) of the marmoset head, imaged before and after death. Knowing the absolute values of the MR parameters makes it possible to choose an imaging protocol for optimal ...

Mobbing vocalizations as a coping response in the common marmoset
Hormones and Behavior, 2006Using a non-invasive method of sampling saliva followed by assay for cortisol levels, we found that common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) show a decrease in cortisol levels after seeing a snake-model stimulus that reliably elicits mobbing (tsik) calls.

The Common Marmoset (Callithrix jacchus)
1983The Common marmoset monkey, Callithrix jacchus jacchus, breeds more rapidly in captivity than any other primate. Because of its small size (adult body weight 400 g) it is easy to maintain in family groups in captivity, so eliminating the boredom and neuroses sometimes seen in the larger macaques and baboons that are often caged singly.

Multimodal recognition in common marmosets
