Campylomma (Mullein Plant Bug) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The campylomma bug (or mullein plant bug; Hemiptera: Miridae) causes sporadic damage in Utah apple orchards. Damage is inflicted by nymphs, which feed on developing fruit causing dimpling and fruit distortion.

Identification of pollen types of beekeeping interest by non‐targeted mass spectrometry

open access: yesJSFA reports, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 62-73, February 2025.
Abstract Background The identification of pollen is important in the field of beekeeping for the determination of the botanical origin of bee products and investigations of bee diet. Until now, it has been performed by melissopalynology, the microscopic examination of pollen grains. However, this technique has some limitations, such as the necessity of

Mechanisms of Pesticide Toxicity in Fish: Insights Into the Ameliorative Role of Plant‐Derived Compounds—A Review

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Pesticide contamination in aquatic environments poses severe risks to fish health, causing oxidative stress, immunosuppression, endocrine disruption, and neurotoxicity. These effects result from the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROSs), enzyme inhibition, and damage to physiological systems. Plant‐derived compounds and phytochemicals, such as

Verbascum species as a new source of saffron apocarotenoids and molecular tools for the biotechnological production of crocins and picrocrocin

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, Page 58-72, April 2024.
Significance Statement Verbascum giganteum and V. sinuatum, traditionally use for their medical properties, produce hundreds of yellow flowers. In the present study, we shown that these flowers accumulate crocins and picrocrocin at high levels. The carotenoid cleavage enzymes involved in the production of these apocarotenoids belong to the CCD4 ...

Pest risk assessment of Leucinodes orbonalis for the European Union

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2024.
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a quantitative risk assessment of Leucinodes orbonalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), the eggplant fruit and shoot borer, for the EU. The assessment focused on potential pathways for entry, climatic conditions favouring establishment, spread and impact ...

Evaluation of treatment cycles on Verbascum thapsus l. (common mullein) at Lava Beds National Monument, California

open access: yes, 2006
Common mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a non-native plant threatening the integrity of natural ecosystems throughout California. Mechanical, chemical, and biological methods have been utilized for control of common mullein. The objective of this study was

The genome sequence of the common mullein, Verbascum thapsus L.

open access: yesWellcome Open Research
We present a genome assembly from an individual of Verbascum thapsus (the common mullein; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Lamiales; Scrophulariaceae). The genome sequence has a total length of 346.30 megabases. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 18 chromosomal pseudomolecules.
