Longitudinal Single‐Axon‐Resolution Imaging of Peripheral Nerve Injury Response in Mice Using an Optical Window Implant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive optical window enables stable, long‐term imaging of peripheral nerves in vivo at single‐axon resolution. Dynamic processes of degeneration, regeneration, and cellular remodeling are visualized across multiple time scales within the same nerve region, providing a unique platform to study a variety of anatomical and molecular events ...

Compound Nerve Action Potential of Common Peroneal Nerve and Sural Nerve Action Potential in Common Peroneal Neuropathy

open access: yesJournal of Korean Medical Science, 2008
To enhance the accuracy for determining the precise localization, the findings of the compound nerve action potentials (CNAPs) of the common peroneal nerve (CPN) were investigated in patients with common peroneal mononeuropathy (CPM) in the knee, and the sural sensory nerve action potentials (SNAPs) were also analyzed.

Loss of SHP1 in Spinal Astrocytes Triggers T‐Lymphocyte Infiltration and Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Bilateral ganglion cyst of the common peroneal nerve.

open access: yes, 2002
Ganglion cysts of the common peroneal nerve are rarely described in the literature and a bilateral lesion has not been previously reported. We present a case of a 41-year-old man with a bilateral cyst of the common peroneal nerve diagnosed with ...

VlPAG/DRN Microglia Drive Neuropathic Pain‐Induced Depression via a Defined Neuroimmune Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peripheral nerve injury (SNI) induces neuropathic pain, activates midbrain microglia, and triggers an NLRP3–IL‐1β–dependent inflammatory cascade. IL‐1β signals through IL‐1R1 on vlPAG/DRN VGLUT2+ neurons (vlPAG/DRNGlu), inducing hyperexcitability and driving the vlPAG/DRNGlu→BNSTGABA circuit to produce the affective component of neuropathic pain ...

TRPC3‐Driven Calcium Microdomains Instruct Peripheral Nerve Regeneration With Protective Implications for Central Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How localized Ca2+ signals orchestrate neural repair remains unclear. Here, we show that TRPC3‐driven calcium microdomains direct nerve repair by coupling spatially confined Ca2+ signals to axon regeneration. This module operates in injured peripheral neurons and correlates with neuroprotection in Parkinson's disease, revealing a spatial logic for ...

A microcontroller system for investigating the catch effect: Functional electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve

open access: yes, 2006
Correction of drop foot in hemiplegic gait is achieved by electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve with a series of pulses at a fixed frequency.

Revitalizing the common peroneal function index for assessing functional recovery following nerve injury

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, 2021
Background and Aims Peripheral nerve injury is common with poor functional recovery and consequent high personal and societal costs. Sciatic nerve transection and assessment of recovery using sciatic functional index (SFI) are widely used.

Biomimetic 3D Tactile Sensor System With Neuromorphic Encoding for Fascicle‐Level Feedback

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A 3D biomimetic tactile sensor system converts skin‐like mechanical interactions into neural stimulation‐ready spike patterns. Embedded slow‐ and fast‐adapting sensors distinguish sustained pressure from transient touch, while neuromorphic encoding preserves their temporal signatures.
