Impact of Virus‐Mediated Modifications in Bacterial Communities on the Accumulation of Soil Organic Carbon

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study illustrates the impact of viruses on carbon cycling in soils with different availabilities of carbon. In conditions of low carbon availability, viruses adopt a lysogenic lifestyle, integrate into the host genomes and facilitate the degradation of carbon.

Epidemiology and microbiological profile comparison between community and hospital acquired infections: A multicenter retrospective study in Lebanon

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2018
Background: The objective of this study is to identify and characterize the species resistance of different pathogens between community acquired and hospital acquired infections pointing at patients’ related independent co-morbidities and socio ...

Magnetically Controllable and Degradable Milliscale Swimmers as Intraocular Drug Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetically controllable degradable milliscale swimmers (MDMS) offer a promising alternative to commercial intraocular drug implants, reducing complications like implant dislocation and uncontrolled drug release. MDMS achieve high velocities in ocular environments, enable real‐time imaging, and deliver drugs effectively without disrupting retinal ...

First report of Acinetobacter pittii acute community-acquired pneumonia in an immunocompetent patient in France following a heat wave

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases
Background In recent years, Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex (ABC) infections have attracted attention, mainly because of the impact of carbapenem-resistant isolates in hospital-acquired infections.

Multifunctional Framework Nucleic Acid Vehicle for Antibiotic Sensitization and Treatment of Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
A self‐assembling, aggregation‐enhanced tetrahedral DNA nanostructure (tFNA), termed TACs, enables localized accumulation and sustained release of ceftriaxone while co‐delivering antisense oligonucleotides that silence mecA, reduce PBP2a expression, and restore β‐lactam susceptibility in MRSA.

Mathematical modelling of community acquired antibiotic resistant infections

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked
Antibiotic usage in hospitals is considered the major driver of the emergence of antibiotic resistance where selection of multiply resistant strains is most common. However, massive antibiotic consumption occurs in the community. We formulate and analyse
