In this research, a simple and scalable strategy for protection of a few‐layer black phosphorus (FLBP) with a cellulose nitrate‐based material is presented. The FLBP is structurally and morphologically characterized. The FLBP stability with and without nitrocellulose protection is monitored by interferometric method, surface profile examination, and ...

Temperature Extremes in the Community Atmosphere Model with Stochastic Parameterizations*
AbstractThis paper evaluates the performance of the NCAR Community Atmosphere Model, version 4 (CAM4), in simulating observed annual extremes of near-surface temperature and provides the first assessment of the impact of stochastic parameterizations of subgrid-scale processes on such performance.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Microwave Absorption for Detection of Dirac Fermions in SnTe Films
Microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions in samples exposed to the atmosphere. Results showed that although topological surface states are robust against environmental degradation, they are not detectable by electrical transport measurements. Hence, microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions even in samples whose surfaces have deteriorated ...

Sustainability: Atmospheric Physics Needs for Community Climate Modeling
The Common Community Physics Package (CCPP) is a framework that is designed to facilitate the implementation of physics suites within atmospheric models. The Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) is the atmospheric component of the Community Earth System Model (CESM) and is widely used by the scientific community. CAM is moving toward the CCPP framework for

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

How to reduce long-term drift in present-day and deep-time simulations?
Climate models are often affected by long-term drift that is revealed by the evolution of global variables such as the ocean temperature or the surface air temperature.
