Compositional software synthesis of communicating processes
Proceedings 1999 IEEE International Conference on Computer Design: VLSI in Computers and Processors (Cat. No.99CB37040), 2003We describe a new compositional software synthesis method for synthesizing concurrent software programs into ordinary C programs so that they can be executed on embedded processors without the need for a run-time multitasking operating system. The synthesized C program can be readily retargeted to different processors using available optimizing C ...

Community Composition and Diversity
2009It seems easy, or at least tractable, to compare the abundance of a single species in two samples. In this chapter, we introduce concepts that ecologists use to compare entire communities in two samples. We focus on two quantities: species composition, and diversity.

Patterns of vegetation and grasshopper community composition
Oecologia, 1990A study was conducted to evaluate differences in rangeland grasshopper communities over environmental gradients in Gallatin Valley, Montana, USA. The concept of habitat type (Daubenmire 1966) was used as a basis for discriminating between groupings of patches based on vegetation.

Specifying composite illustrations with communicative goals
Proceedings of the 2nd annual ACM SIGGRAPH symposium on User interface software and technology, 1989IBIS (Intent-Based Illustration System) generates illustrations automatically, guided by communicative goals. Communicative goals specify that particular properties of objects, such as their color, size, or location are to be conveyed in the illustration. IBIS is intended to be part of an interactive multimedia explanation generation system.

RACIAL COMPOSITION OF COMMUNITIES AND PARTICIPATION OF ADOLESCENTS
INTED proceedings, 2016The investigation used the Add Health data set to examine the association between communities’ composition with respect to race and participation in extracurricular school activities in secondary education. Results of this analysis show that the composition of adolescents’ communities matters for individuals’ participation outcomes in extracurricular ...

Effects of the presence and community composition of earthworms on microbial community functioning
Oecologia, 2002Earthworms are a major component of many terrestrial ecosystems. By modifying decomposition processes and soil structure, they function as driving factors of the soil microbial community. Using microcosms, we investigated the effects of the presence and community composition of earthworms on the in situ respiratory response of a microbial community to ...

Ontology Matching in Communication and Web Services Composition for Agent Community
2007Ontology matching plays a vital role in a number of areas, such as knowledge integration, services composition or system interoperability. In this paper we present an architectural overview of an ontological service, wrapped up as an Ontology Agent, supporting automated ontology matching and facilitating inter-agent communication.
