Exploring 3D community inconsistency in human chromosome contact networks

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity, 2023
Researchers have developed chromosome capture methods such as Hi-C to better understand DNA’s 3D folding in nuclei. The Hi-C method captures contact frequencies between DNA segment pairs across the genome.

Benchmark graphs for testing community detection algorithms. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2008
Community structure is one of the most important features of real networks and reveals the internal organization of the nodes. Many algorithms have been proposed but the crucial issue of testing, i.e., the question of how good an algorithm is, with ...

A Survey of Community Detection in Complex Networks Using Nonnegative Matrix Factorization

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, 2022
Community detection is one of the popular research topics in the field of complex networks analysis. It aims to identify communities, represented as cohesive subgroups or clusters, where nodes in the same community link to each other more densely than ...

Community Detection on the GPU [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS), 2017
We present and evaluate a new GPU algorithm based on the Louvain method for community detection. Our algorithm is the first for this problem that parallelizes the access to individual edges. In this way we can fine tune the load balance when processing networks with nodes of highly varying degrees.

Resolution limit in community detection [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2006
Detecting community structure is fundamental for uncovering the links between structure and function in complex networks and for practical applications in many disciplines such as biology and sociology.

Anomaly detection and community detection in networks

open access: yesJournal of Big Data, 2022
AbstractAnomaly detection is a relevant problem in the area of data analysis. In networked systems, where individual entities interact in pairs, anomalies are observed when pattern of interactions deviates from patterns considered regular. Properly defining what regular patterns entail relies on developing expressive models for describing the observed ...

An Improved Louvain Algorithm for Community Detection

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2021
Social network analysis has important research significance in sociology, business analysis, public security, and other fields. The traditional Louvain algorithm is a fast community detection algorithm with reliable results. The scale of complex networks

Fine-Scale Coral Connectivity Pathways in the Florida Reef Tract: Implications for Conservation and Restoration

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
Connectivity between coral reefs is critical to ensure their resilience and persistence against disturbances. It is driven by ocean currents, which often have very complex patterns within reef systems.
