β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

The role of stimulation, affection, and parenting patterns in stunting among children aged 24-59 months

open access: yesAcTion: Aceh Nutrition Journal
Stunting remains a chronic nutritional issue in Indonesia. The prevalence of stunting has decreased from 30,8% in 2018 to 21,5% in 2023; this rate is still above the WHO threshold of less than 20%.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Mammal community structure in a world of gradients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Functional types are becoming central when searching for generalities in community ecology. They may help in identifying the driving factors that shape communities, as well as in formulating ecological rules.

Stressed but stable : Canopy loss decreased species synchrony and metabolic variability in an intertidal hard-bottom community

open access: yes, 2012
This work was supported by the Sustainable Development, Global Change and Ecosystems Programme of the European Community’s Sixth Framework Programme (contract # GOCE-CT-2003-505446)The temporal stability of aggregate community properties depends on the ...

Achieving High‐Density and Stress‐Resilient Maize Breeding Via Germplasm Innovation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Global population growth and climate change have exacerbated the global food crisis. This perspective presents a conceptual framework focusing on enhancing population advantages. Several novel breeding objectives are proposed to improve density tolerance and stress resistance for yield improvement.

Evaluation of physicochemical properties and functional potential of analog rice based on commercial flours of porang tuber and gembili as an alternative carbohydrate food source

open access: yesAcTion: Aceh Nutrition Journal
Indonesia is one of the countries that produces porang and gembili tubers that can be processed into value-added food products. One innovation that can be developed is the analog rice made from these two tubers.
