Investigation on a prognosis method of the HVDC commutation failure

2016 IEEE 11th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2016
In order to judge commutation failure faster and more accurately, a new prognosis method was proposed. The physical mechanism of a three-phase full wave rectifier circuit was analyzed, and an arc angle formula based on impedance parameters was proposed to judge commutation failure.

Time discreteness of commutation failure in HVDC transmission

TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2015
Commutation failure caused by AC system failure is most common phenomenon of AC/DC dynamic interaction. The research about the DC commutation failure simply caused by AC system failure at a certain moment may not accurately reflect the complexity of HVDC commutation failure.

Research on fault diagnosis of HVDC commutation failure

2016 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2016
Commutation failure is one of the common faults in HVDC system, which has an adverse impact on the safe operation of the entire power system. Fast and accurate diagnosis for commutation failure plays an important role in controlling the commutation failure.

Effect of a SFCL on Commutation Failure in a HVDC System

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2013
This paper describes an analysis of the effects of a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) on commutation failure in a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system. Most commutation failures are caused by voltage disturbances at the inverter side and cannot be avoided in HVDC systems using thyristors.

The Summary of HVDC Commutation Failure and Example Analysis

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Commutation Failure is the common fault of HVDC, continuous commutation failure may lead to HVDC block and affect the stability of the power system. Especially in southern power grid, china, its special that the end of four HVDC system are all in Guangzhou.

Study on the Improvement of Commutation Failure by Synchronous Condenser

2019 IEEE 3rd Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2), 2019
Large capacity synchronous condenser has excellent reactive power and voltage regulation capability. And it is one of the most important measures to improve the commutation failure characteristics of LCC-HVDC by deploying large capacity synchronous condensers in HVDC inverter stations.

Commutating failure simulation on a single-phase AC line-voltage-commutated inverter

[Proceedings] 1992 IEEE Workshop on Computers in Power Electronics, 2003
A study of the commutating failure of a single-phase AC line-voltage-commutated inverter, is carried out with the help of a simulation method, combined with the steady-state operating diagram. A new aspect to explain this failure is presented. >
