Job Search and Commuting Time [PDF]
We structurally analyze a job search model for unemployed individuals that allows jobs to have different wage/commuting-time combinations. Thestructural parameter of interest is the willingness to pay for commuting time. We use a unique dataset containing subjective responses on the optimalsearch strategy by unemployed individuals in order to ...

Effect of commuting on the risk of COVID-19 and COVID-19-induced anxiety in Japan, December 2020
Background To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), it is important to avoid 3Cs (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings).

Commuting Times: Is There Any Penalty for Immigrants? [PDF]
The assimilation of immigrants and their impact on the labour market of the host country have become a growing subject of study in recent literature. This is a topic of particular interest in countries like Spain, where immigration has become one of the main challenges of government policy in recent years.

Inflation on a non-commutative space–time [PDF]
We study inflation on a non-commutative space-time within the framework of enveloping algebra approach which allows for a consistent formulation of general relativity and of the standard model of particle physics. We show that within this framework, the effects of the non-commutativity of spacetime are very subtle.

Clustering and Embedding Using Commute Times [PDF]
This paper exploits the properties of the commute time between nodes of a graph for the purposes of clustering and embedding, and explores its applications to image segmentation and multi-body motion tracking. Our starting point is the lazy random walk on the graph, which is determined by the heatkernel of the graph and can be computed from the ...

Commute Times in Dense Graphs [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce the approach of graph densification as a means of preconditioning spectral clustering. After motivating the need of densification, we review the fundamentals of graph densifiers based on cut similarity and then analyze their associated optimization problems.

The positive utility of the commute: modeling ideal commute time and relative desired commute amount [PDF]
Two measures of commute time preferences – Ideal Commute Time and Relative Desired Commute amount (a variable indicating the desire to commute "much less" to "much more" than currently) – are modeled, using tobit and ordered probit, respectively. Ideal Commute Time was found to be positively related to Actual Commute Time and to a liking and utility ...
