Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Brézis-Wainger Inequality on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2008
The Brézis-Wainger inequality on a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary is shown. For this purpose, the Moser-Trudinger inequality and the Sobolev embedding theorem are applied.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

SIMPLY CONNECTED, SPINELESS 4-MANIFOLDS

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2019
We construct infinitely many compact, smooth 4-manifolds which are homotopy equivalent to $S^{2}$ but do not admit a spine (that is, a piecewise linear embedding of $S^{2}$ that realizes the homotopy equivalence).

Embedding in compact uniquely divisible semigroups

open access: yesSemigroup Forum, 1972
D. R. Brown and M. Friedberg have conjectured that each compact abelian semigroup can be embedded in a compact divisible semigroup. V. R. Hancock proved that each abelian algebraic semigroup can be embedded in a divisible abelian algebraic semigroup.

Production of MgO/TiC Composites From MgO‐C Recyclates Using Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Using the spark plasma sintering technique, MgO/TiC composites are manufactured from recycled MgO‐C refractories stemming from the steel production that were mixed with titanium powder. This article shows, how the size of the Ti grains and their distribution in the powder mixture affect the local carbon concentration in TiC.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Deep clustering using 3D attention convolutional autoencoder for hyperspectral image analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Deep clustering has been widely applicated in various fields, including natural image and language processing. However, when it is applied to hyperspectral image (HSI) processing, it encounters challenges due to high dimensionality of HSI and complex ...

Formation of Stable Amorphous Calcium Phosphate and Collagen Assemblies by a Versatile Spray‐Drying Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.
