Multigrid method with eighth-order compact finite difference scheme for Helmholtz equation
Physica Scripta, 2020Higher-order compact finite difference scheme with multigrid algorithm is applied in this paper for solving one-dimensional and two-dimensional inhomogeneous Helmholtz equations. In two-dimensional case, the suggested scheme has the stencil of twenty one

Compact Finite Difference Schemes for the Acoustic Wave Equation
78th EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2016, 2016In this work, we implement and compare two fourth-order compact finite difference (CFD) methods to model the propagation of acoustic waves on a 1-D domain. The first scheme is based on standard implicit CFD constructed on nodal grids and must solve a couple of tridiagonal linear systems at each time iteration.

A Massively Parallel Algorithm for Compact Finite Difference Schemes
1994 International Conference on Parallel Processing Vol. 3, 1994A compact scheme is a discretization scheme that is advantageous in obtaining highly accurate solutions. However, the resulting systems from compact schemes are tridiagonal systems that are difficult to solve efficiently on parallel computers. Considering the almost symmetric Toeplitz structure, a parallel algorithm, simple parallel prefix (SPP), is ...

Holberg's optimisation for high-order compact finite difference staggered schemes
International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2011Two optimised high-order compact finite difference (FD) staggered schemes are presented in this communication. Following Holberg's optimisation strategy, the least squares problem to minimising the group velocity (MGV) error, for the fourth-and sixth-order pentadiagonal schemes, is formulated. For a fixed level of group velocity accuracy, the optimised

A compact finite difference method for solving Burgers' equation
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, 2009AbstractIn this paper, a high‐order accurate compact finite difference method using the Hopf–Cole transformation is introduced for solving one‐dimensional Burgers' equation numerically. The stability and convergence analyses for the proposed method are given, and this method is shown to be unconditionally stable.

In this study, we examine the acoustic simulation method combining the wave equation finite difference time domain (WE FD-TD) method and compact FDs (CPFDs) for the second derivative. The wave equation compact finite difference time domain (WE CPFD-TD) method does not require calculation of the particle velocity; therefore, it can reduce the ...
