On the fourth-order accurate compact ADI scheme for solving the unsteady Nonlinear Coupled Burgers' Equations

open access: yes, 1998
The two-dimensional unsteady coupled Burgers' equations with moderate to severe gradients, are solved numerically using higher-order accurate finite difference schemes; namely the fourth-order accurate compact ADI scheme, and the fourth-order accurate Du

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Spectral singularities in PT-symmetric periodic finite-gap systems

open access: yes, 2012
The origin of spectral singularities in finite-gap singly periodic PT-symmetric quantum systems is investigated. We show that they emerge from a limit of band-edge states in a doubly periodic finite gap system when the imaginary period tends to infinity.

An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.

An Efficient Compact Difference Method for Temporal Fractional Subdiffusion Equations

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2019
In this paper, a high-order compact finite difference method is proposed for a class of temporal fractional subdiffusion equation. A numerical scheme for the equation has been derived to obtain 2-α in time and fourth-order in space.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

A Compact Scheme for a Partial Integro-Differential Equation with Weakly Singular Kernel [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2017
Compact finite difference scheme is applied for a partial integro-differential equation with a weakly singular kernel. The product trapezoidal method is applied for discretization of the integral term. The order of accuracy in space and time is , where .

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Sixth-order compact finite difference method for singularly perturbed 1D reaction diffusion problems

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2017
In this paper, the sixth-order compact finite difference method is presented for solving singularly perturbed 1D reaction–diffusion problems. The derivative of the given differential equation is replaced by finite difference approximations.
