Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Conductive Bonding and System Architectures for High‐Performance Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review outlines bonding technologies and structural design strategies that support high‐performance flexible and stretchable electronics. Bonding approaches such as surface‐activated bonding and anisotropic conductive films, together with system‐level architectures including buffer layers and island‐bridge structures, possess distinct mechanical ...

High-Order Compact Difference Scheme for the Numerical Solution of Time Fractional Heat Equations

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
A high-order finite difference scheme is proposed for solving time fractional heat equations. The time fractional derivative is described in the Riemann-Liouville sense.

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

A Consistent Fourth-Order Compact Finite Difference Scheme for Solving Vorticity-Stream Function Form of Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

open access: yesNumerical Mathematics: Theory, Methods and Applications, 2019
The inconsistent accuracy and truncation error in the treatment of boundary usually leads to performance defects, such as decreased accuracy and even numerical instability, of the entire computational method, especially for higher order methods.

Programmable In‐Situ Interactions Between Resins and Photopolymerized Structures for Seamlessly Integrated Optical Manufacturing of Microlenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a dynamic interaction between liquid resins and photopolymerized structures enabled by an in situ light‐writing setup. By controlling a three‐phase interface through localized photopolymerization, which provides physical confinement for the remaining uncured resin regions, the approach establishes a programmable pathway that ...

High Resolution Compact Finite Difference Schemes for Convection Dominated Problems

open access: yesWorld Journal of Mechanics, 2019
In this short article, the upwind and central compact finite difference schemes for spatial discretization of the first-order derivative are analyzed. Comparison of the schemes is provided and the best discretization scheme for convection dominated problems is suggested.
