On the subsets of non locally compact points of ultracomplete spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
summary:In 1998, S. Romaguera [13] introduced the notion of cofinally Čech-complete spaces equivalent to spaces which we later called ultracomplete spaces.

Mechanically Programmable DNA Hydrogel Microparticles for 3D Cellular Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
DNA hydrogel microparticles are designed to exhibit controllable viscoelasticity and stiffness across three orders of magnitude from 30Pa$30 \,\mathrm{Pa}$ to 6.5kPa$6.5 \,\mathrm{kPa}$. They are uptaken into fibroblast spheroids where they are actively remodeled by cellular forces depending on their mechanical properties.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

On universal metric locally finite dimensional spaces

open access: yes, 1979
In this paper we prove the existence of a universal element in the class of locally-finite dimensional metric spaces with weight τ. We also show that every locally finite dimensional metric space has uniformly zero-dimensional continuous mapping in a ...

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Lusin spaces as images of locally compact Polish spaces

open access: yes, 2023
A Lusin space is a Hausdorff space being the image of a Polish space under a continuous bijection. Such spaces have multiple applications, in particular, as state spaces of various stochastic systems.

Metric spaces of fuzzy sets

open access: yes, 1999
Two classes of metrics are introduced for spaces of fuzzy sets. Their equivalence is discussed and basic properties established. A characterisation of compact and locally compact subsets is given in terms of boundedness and p-mean equileft-continuity ...

The topological type of spaces consisting of certain metrics on locally compact metrizable spaces with the compact-open topology

open access: yes, 2022
For a separable locally compact but not compact metrizable space $X$, let $αX = X \cup \{x_\infty\}$ be the one-point compactification with the point at infinity $x_\infty$. We denote by $EM(X)$ the space consisting of admissible metrics on $X$, which can be extended to an admissible metric on $αX$, endowed with the compact-open topology. Let $ \mathbf{

Mechanically Spatio‐Chimeric Fibrin Assembly Enables Vascular‐Integrated Muscle Reconstruction for Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...

Self‐Seeded Nucleation of PET in a Benign Solvent Yields a High Modulus Aerogel With Ultra‐Low Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new benign solvent (1,3‐diphenylacetone) enables a simple, safe, and sustainable dissolution and gelation method to convert waste PET into low density, monolithic aerogels with high mechanical strength (E = 20 MPa) and remarkably low thermal conductivity (k = 21.9 to 28.9 mW/m·K).
