Investigation of the capability of the Compact Polarimetry mode to Reconstruct Full Polarimetry mode using RADARSAT2 data

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2012
Recently, there has been growing interest in dual-pol systems that transmit one polarization and receive two polarizations. Souyris et al. proposed a DP mode called compact polarimetry (CP) which is able to reduce the complexity, cost, mass, and data ...

COmpact Polarimetry Potentials

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011
The goal of this study is to show the potential of a compact-ol SAR system for vegetation applications. Compact-pol concept has been suggested to minimize the system design while maximize the information and is declined as the pi/4, pi/2 and hybrid modes.

VLA polarimetry of compact steep spectrum sources [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy and Astrophysics Supplement Series, 1997
We present the polarization properties at sub-arcsecond resolutions of 8 Compact Steep-spectrum Sources (CSSs) observed with the VLA A-array at 5, 8.4 and 15 GHz. We nd that the three most compact sources, two of which are unresolved and have an angular diame- ter < 100 milliarcsec are not polarized.

Moving to the RADARSAT Constellation Mission: Comparing Synthesized Compact Polarimetry and Dual Polarimetry Data with Fully Polarimetric RADARSAT-2 Data for Image Classification of Peatlands

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
For this research, the Random Forest (RF) classifier was used to evaluate the potential of simulated RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) data for mapping landcover within peatlands. Alfred Bog, a large peatland complex in Southern Ontario, was used as a

Ocean Wind Retrieval Models for RADARSAT Constellation Mission Compact Polarimetry SAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
We propose two new ocean wind retrieval models for right circular-vertical (RV) and right circular-horizontal (RH) polarizations respectively from the compact-polarimetry (CP) mode of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM), which is scheduled to be ...

Diffraction order‐engineered polarization‐dependent silicon nano‐antennas metagrating for compact subtissue Mueller microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 14, Issue 27, Page 5277-5289, December 2025.
Abstract A polarization‐dependent silicon nano‐antennas metagrating (PSNM) is proposed for parallel polarization transformation by engineering diffraction orders, upon which a compact Mueller microscopy system is implemented for subtissue‐level polarization extraction.

A Changing-Look AGN to Be Probed by X-ray Polarimetry

open access: yesGalaxies, 2018
Active galactic nuclei (AGN) produce the highest intrinsic luminosities in the Universe from within a compact region. The central engine is thought to be powered by accretion onto a supermassive black hole.

Considerations on Possible Directions for a Wide Band Polarimetry X-ray Mission

open access: yesGalaxies
The Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) has confirmed that X-ray polarimetry is a valuable tool in astronomy, providing critical insights into the emission processes and the geometry of compact objects.

Framework for Reconstruction of Pseudo Quad Polarimetric Imagery from General Compact Polarimetry [PDF]

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Pseudo quad polarimetric (quad-pol) image reconstruction from the hybrid dual-pol (or compact polarimetric (CP)) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is a category of important techniques for radar polarimetric applications. There are three key aspects

Demonstration of Compact In situ Mueller-Matrix Polarimetry Based on Binary Polarization Rotators

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
We develop a compact in situ Mueller-matrix polarimetry (MMP) based on binary polarization rotators for on-machine optical processing measurements. The presented in situ MMP could measure the polarization properties of free-space reflective samples by ...
