Milling Forces of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) and Gray Iron (GI)
Materials Science Forum, 2014Compacted graphite iron (CGI) has excellent comprehensive performance of strength, hardness, abrasion resistance, shock absorption and thermal conductivity as an ideal material for making engine parts. The material performance of CGI is compared with that of gray iron (GI) and spheroidal graphite Iron (SGI). Some research shows that the strong adhesion

Machinability of compacted graphite iron (CGI) and flake graphite iron (FGI) with coated carbide
International Journal of Machining and Machinability of Materials, 2013Compacted graphite iron (CGI) has an important role in manufacturing of new generation engines. Better strength of CGI, as compared to flake graphite iron (FGI), allows CGI engine to perform at higher peak pressure, higher fuel efficiency and lower emission rate. However, the machinability of CGI is as poor as compared to FGI.

Evaluation of Hard Coating Performance in Drilling Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI)
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2013The aim of this investigation was to compare the performance of the following commercial coatings system, TiAlN/TiN, AlCrN, and TiSiN/AlCrN, deposited in cemented carbide tools in drilling compact graphite iron (CGI). The drilling tests were conducted adopting two cutting speeds: 80 or 150 m/min.
