We study the presence of lumplike solutions in models described by a single real scalar field with standard kinematics in two-dimensional spacetime. The results show several distinct models that support the presence of bell-shaped, lumplike structures which may live in a compact space.

单位球上βP空间到Zα型空间的加权Cesàro算子(Extended Cesàro operators from βP spaces to Zα spaces on the unit ball)
Boundary and compact of extended Cesàro operators from βP spaces to Zygmund type space in the unit ball are studied. With the methods of functional analysis and several complex variables, the necessary and sufficient conditions are given for extended ...

Gerrymandering and Compactness: Implementation Flexibility and Abuse
The shape of an electoral district may suggest whether it was drawn with political motivations, or gerrymandered. For this reason, quantifying the shape of districts, in particular their compactness, is a key task in politics and civil rights.

Woodin for strong compactness cardinals [PDF]
We give the definition of Woodin for strong compactness cardinals, the Woodinised version of strong compactness, and we prove an analogue of Magidor's identity crisis theorem for the first strongly compact cardinal.Comment: 20 pages, fixed proof of ...

Global compactness results for nonlocal problems [PDF]
We obtain a Struwe type global compactness result for a class of nonlinear nonlocal problems involving the fractional $p-$Laplacian operator and nonlinearities at critical growth.

A New Cluster Validity Index Based on Local Density of Data Points
Multiple cluster validity indices (CVIs) have been introduced for diverse applications. In practice, clusters exhibit varying shapes, sizes, densities, and closely spaced centers, which are typically unknown beforehand.

China’s rapid urbanization has been accompanied by serious urban sprawl. Instead of measuring the physical urban boundaries (PUBs), most of existing studies in China rely on yearbook statistics to describe the growth of urbanized area; therefore, the ...

Polytropic stars in bootstrapped Newtonian gravity
We study self-gravitating stars in the bootstrapped Newtonian picture for polytropic equations of state. We consider stars that span a wide range of compactness values.

We initiate a study of topological orthoalgebras (TOAs), concentrating on the compact case. Examples of TOAs include topological orthomodular lattices, and also the projection lattice of a Hilbert space. As the latter example illustrates, a lattice-ordered TOA need not be a topological lattice.

The Maxwell Compactness Property in Bounded Weak Lipschitz Domains with Mixed Boundary Conditions [PDF]
For a bounded weak Lipschitz domain we show the so called `Maxwell compactness property', that is, the space of square integrable vector fields having square integrable weak rotation and divergence and satisfying mixed tangential and normal boundary ...
