Performance enhancement of SC-FDMA systems using a companding technique

annals of telecommunications - annales des télécommunications, 2010
In this paper, a companding technique is proposed to effectively reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems. By companding the samples with large amplitudes, while enhancing those with small amplitudes, a significant reduction in the PAPR can be achieved.

Reversible Data Hiding Using the Companding Technique and Improved DE Method

Circuits, Systems & Signal Processing, 2008
A novel reversible data hiding scheme based on the companding technique and an improved difference expansion (DE) method is presented in this article. The companding technique is employed to embed payload into high frequency bands in the integer wavelet transform (IWT) domain.

Reversible Data Hiding Using Integer Wavelet Transform and Companding Technique

2005
This paper presents a novel reversible data-embedding method for digital images using integer wavelet transform and companding technique. This scheme takes advantage of the Laplacian-like distribution of integer wavelet coefficients in high frequency subbands, which facilitates the selection of compression and expansion functions and keeps the ...

Triangular Distribution-Based Companding Technique for Reducing PAPR of OFDM Systems

Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Electrical Engineering, 2017
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology promises to be a key technique for achieving high data rates in the present as well as future broadband wireless communication systems. In spite of several advantages, one of the major drawbacks of OFDM system is its high peak to average power ratio (PAPR), which degrades the overall ...

Analysis of nonlinear companding techniques for short range DMT optical links

2018 IEEE Biennial Congress of Argentina (ARGENCON), 2018
Discrete Multitone, like any multicarrier communication system, presents an important issue which degrades its performance when a nonlinear device is located at the transmitter: a high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio. Many approaches were proposed to solve this problem, of which nonlinear companding techniques are a good choice, especially when low ...

Performance Comparison of Companding-Based PAPR Suppression Techniques in OFDM Systems

2019 8th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST), 2019
The suppression of high peak-to-average-power-ratio (PAPR) values is crucial to the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. High PAPR gives rise to the non-linear clipping-induced harmonic distortions which degrade the end-to-end bit error rate performance.

Adaptive Companding as a PAPR Reduction Technique of an OFDM Signal

Journal of Communications, 2012
In this paper, a new adaptive PAPR reduction scheme is proposed by which the PAPR of the OFDM signal can be reduced to keep the value lower than a predefined threshold level. A conventional companding is used as a technique to reduce the PAPR of the OFDM signal.

PAPR Minimization of Clipped OFDM Signals Using Tangent Rooting Companding Technique

Wireless Personal Communications, 2019
In this paper, we present a novel PAPR minimization technique which is based on combined tangent rooting companding and clipping. The tangent rooting companding is used to compress the amplitude of large peaks and enlarges the amplitude of small peaks OFDM signals by adjusting the parameters. The proposed technique offers a good PAPR reduction with low

Implementation of Non Linear Companding Technique for Reducing PAPR of OFDM

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2018
Abstract High Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signal is one of the foremost problems to implement Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) System. To transform the OFDM signal into anticipated statistics form that are identified by a linear piecewise function, the new Non-Linear Companding transform (NCT) set of rules is ...

Companding and Pulse shaping technique for PAPR reduction in FBMC systems

2015 International Conference on Control, Instrumentation, Communication and Computational Technologies (ICCICCT), 2015
Multicarrier modulation systems have become a fast growing field in the modern communication field. The most popular multicarrier modulation technique, OFDM has low bandwidth efficiency due to the insertion of cyclic prefix and poor spectral containment and high narrow band interference due to the use of IFFT.
