High-Rate Design of Transform Coders with Gaussian Mixture Companders
2006 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speed and Signal Processing Proceedings, 2006This paper examines the problem of designing fixed-rate transform coders for sources with arbitrary distributions, under input-weighted squared error distortion measures. As a component of this system, a flexible scalar compander using Gaussian mixtures is proposed.

Companding transform for PAPR reduction in coherent optical OFDM system
2012 21st Annual Wireless and Optical Communications Conference (WOCC), 2012µ-law companding and de-companding, which enlarges small signals and compresses large signals, can work successfully in the CO-OFDM transmission system, and µ=1 is the optimal companding coefficient for PAPR reduction.

PAPR Reduction in LTE Uplink Communications by Airy Companding Transform
2018 9th International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT), 2018Long Term Evolution uses Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) for uplink communications as it has low peak to average power ratio (PAPR). But PAPR is still an issue for higher order modulations in localized SC-FDMA systems. Companding is an attractive technique to reduce PAPR.

Nonlinear companding transform technique for reducing PAPR of ODFM signals
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2012In this paper a novel nonlinear companding transform (NCT) scheme based on the inverse hyperbolic sine function is proposed for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. By introducing the variable companding parameters and an inflexion point in the companding function, it enables more

Two-piecewise companding transform for PAPR reduction of OFDM signals
2011 7th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 2011To reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals, a two-piecewise companding (TPWC) transform is proposed so as to compress large signal amplitudes and expand small ones with two different linear functions.

A High-Rate Optimal Transform Coder With Gaussian Mixture Companders
IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, 2007This paper examines the problem of designing fixed-rate transform coders for sources whose distributions are unknown and presumably non-Gaussian, under input-weighted squared error distortion measures. As a component of this system, a flexible scalar compander based on Gaussian mixtures is proposed.

A novel quadrilateral companding transform for PAPR reduction in OFDM systems
Digital Signal Processing, 2019Abstract One of the major limitations of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal is high Peak-to-Average-Power-Ratio (PAPR). Non-linear companding transforms that expand small signals and compress the peak signals reduce the PAPR significantly.

A Novel Piecewise Nonlinear Companding Transform for PAPR Reduction in GFDM
2018 10th International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2018Similar to the widely used orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme, Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM) system suffers from the problem of the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we propose an efficient piecewise nonlinear companding transform for PAPR reduction of GFDM signals and a novel iterative ...

PAPR reduction of LOFDM signals with an efficient nonlinear companding transform
2013 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing, 2013One of the major drawbacks remain unsolved in lattice orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (LOFDM) system is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, a modified nonlinear companding transform scheme is proposed. By dealing with the companding transform and signal power independently when transform the Gaussian-distributed LOFDM

Novel Nonlinear Companding Transform for PAPR Reduction
2019In this paper, a novel technique to control the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in Non-Continuous Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (NC-OFDM/OQAM) is proposed. When compared with conventional NC-OFDM systems the corresponding PAPR seems to be increasing which is a disadvantage.
