Comparative film studies: detour, demon of comparison and dislocative fantasy

Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, 2013
This essay brings an emergent framework of comparative film studies to illuminate an unresolved site of the colonial cinema of Joseon (Korea) under Japanese rule by mobilizing a set of useful terms such as detour and dislocative fantasy departing from a usual mode of demon of comparison.

A comparative study of films and screens for mammography

The British Journal of Radiology, 1987
Ten films and six screens suitable for mammography have been compared for image quality using a realistic quantitative phantom under controlled conditions. The best screen was Min R (Kodak), but three black and white films, Min R (Kodak), Fuji II NC (Fuji) and MR3 (Agfa-Gevaert), scored highly.

Comparative studies on Langmuir–Schaefer films of polyanilines

Synthetic Metals, 1999
Abstract Langmuir isotherms of polyaniline (PANI), poly( o -toluidine) (POT), poly( o -anisidine) (POAS) and poly( o -ethoxy aniline) (PEOA) were investigated at aqueous subphase of pH 1, where doping during monolayer formation appeared as an essential step for high quality of the film.

Xeromammography and Film Mammography: Completion of a Comparative Study

Radiology, 1967
Film mammography has been in use for many years and by many groups, notably Gershon-Cohen (6–8), Egan (3, 4) and others (5, 10, 14, 15). Reports on its diagnostic accuracy constantly stress the importance of technic and the experience of the radiologist interpreting the films.

Comparative study of SiOx and SiOx:TbF3 films

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1987
The influence of doping with TbF3 and subsequent annealing on the properties of vacuum thermally deposited SiOx films is investigated. It is shown that: (i) in spite of the conservation of the amorphous structure and the rather weak dependence of x and the optical characteristics on these factors they influence strongly the secondary ion mass spectra ...

Comparative study of Cu2ZnSnS4 film growth

Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 2011
We fabricated Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films using two different methods, spray pyrolysis and sulfurization of Cu–Zn–Sn metallic films. Spray pyrolysis was carried out under air ambient with modified ultrasonic spray system. Sulfurizations of metallic Cu–Zn–Sn films were done for stacked metallic films, Cu/Sn/Zn/glass, Cu/Sn/Cu/Zn/glass and Sn/Cu/Zn/glass,

A future of comparative film studies

Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, 2013
Paul Willemen proposes the concept of comparative film studies, as an immanent critique of film studies, as an academic discipline—in the development of which the US has played a central role. Is comparative film studies equally relevant for film scholars working outside Euro-American academia?

Xeromammography and Film Mammography

Radiology, 1965
Physical Considerations The xerographic process is based upon the electrical characteristics of certain semiconductors such as selenium which, although normally good insulators, become charge conductors under the action of light or ionizing radiation.

Comparative study of processing methods for starch/gelatin films

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2013
In this work, the influence of processing methods on the properties of starch/gelatin films plasticized with glycerol and sorbitol is reported. Four different processing techniques: casting; pressing; pressing followed by blowing and extrusion followed by blowing were evaluated.

A comparative sensitometric x-ray film study

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1971
Abstract Eight films were subjected to an analysis of speed, latitude, and average gradient, with x-rays as the exposure medium. Separate sensitometric curves were created for each of the films under different combinations of related factors. The values thus derived indicated the effect of film type, exposure conditions, radiation quality, and all ...
