A Comparison Theorem

1988
In this chapter we compare Riemannian foliations with transversally homogeneous foliations, where the model transverse structure is of the type of a compact symmetric space G/K. We state a comparison theorem [KRT 2] which is based on the results in Chapter 12.

ON THE COMPARISON THEOREM OF THE GTOR METHOD

Acta Mathematica Scientia, 1998
The generalized truncated overrelaxation (GTOR) method is a 3-parameter family of iteration schemes that includes most of the classical methods as special cases. Some comparison theorems are presented concerning the spectral radius of the method if some or all parameters change monotonically.

Comparison theorems for splittings of matrices

Numerische Mathematik, 2002
Let \(A\in \mathbb{C}^{n\times n}\) and \(x,b\in \mathbb{C}^n\) with \(x\) unknown. In order to solve a linear system of the form \(Ax=b\) with iterative methods, the author splits the matrix \(A\) into \(A=M-N\) (or \(A=M_{k}-N_{k}\), \(k=1,2,\dots ,m\) ``parallel multisplitting method'') with \(M\) nonsingular (\(M_{k}\) nonsingular) and then uses ...

Convergence and comparison theorems for multisplittings

Numerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 1999
The authors extend \textit{D. P. O'Leary}'s and \textit{R. E. White}'s convergence results [SIAM J. Algebraic Discrete Methods 6, 630-640 (1985; Zbl 0852.65018)] and \textit{L. Elsner}'s comparison result [Numer. Math. 56, No. 2/3, 283-289 (1989; Zbl 0652.65024)] by using the splittings of the second type and establishing an alternative convergence ...

A Comparison Theorem for an Elliptic Operator

Potential Analysis, 1998
Let \(\varrho(x)\) be the distance from a fixed reference point in a manifold. Using the Bakry-Emery technique, the author proves a comparison theorem similar to the upper bound for \(\Delta\varrho\) on a Riemannian manifold with lower bounded Ricci curvature.

Comparison Theorems for Constrained Rods

SIAM Review, 1964
they prove' that "the fastest oscillation possible for a solution of (1.4) is at least as fast as the fastest oscillation permitted by equation (1.3)". However, when this result is expressed in terms of zeros of solutions we no longer get the simple separation property characteristic of the second order case.

Limit Theorems and Converse Comparison Theorems for Generators of BSDEs

2011
In this paper, we establishes a limit theorem of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) where the coefficient is independent of y and uniformly continuous in z. With this limit theorem, some converse comparison theorems of this kind of BSDEs are established.
