Reproductive compensation [PDF]
AbstractThe reproductive compensation hypothesis says that individuals constrained by ecological or social forces to reproduce with partners they do not prefer compensate for likely offspring viability deficits. The reproductive compensation hypothesis assumes that (i) pathogens and parasites evolve more rapidly than their hosts, (ii) mate preferences ...

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Rotating compensator ellipsometry applied to OMCVD growth
The objective of this research was to develop a better understanding of epitaxial growth through non-destructive real-time optical measurements. This required us to develop a rotating-compensator ellipsometer/polarimeter (RCE/RCP) integrated into a ...

Unbalance compensator for three-phase industrial installations
[EN] This paper describes constitution, design and operation of a passive unbalance compensator for variable loads in three-phase industrial installations. Compensator is integrated by three-phase connections of variable coils and capacitors.

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Synthesis of Automatic Control System for Low-Temperature Separator
The gas produced from the well under high pressure is fed to a complex preparation unit, where solid impurities and water are removed. Purified natural gas contains valuable components such as condensate, as well as heavy hydrocarbons, butane and propane.
