We consider a competitive version of the classical newsboy problem—in which a firm must choose an inventory or production level for a perishable good with random demand, and the optimal solution is a fractile of the demand distribution—and investigate the impact of competition upon industry inventory.

SAT Competition 2002 held in March–May 2002 in conjunction with SAT 2002 (the Fifth International Symposium on the Theory and Applications of Satisfiability Testing). About 30 solvers and 2300 benchmarks took part in the competition, which required more than 2 CPU years to complete the evaluation. In this report, we give the results of the competition,

From competitiveness to competition
Resources Policy, 1996Abstract Minimill steel companies-re;atively small, efficient producers that use electric furnaces to melt scrap or directly reduced iron ore - have steadily increased their share of US steel production from about 5% in 1970 to more than 35% today, forcing the closure of numerous integrated facilities over this period.

The Utility Competition, Price Competition and Quantity Competition
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018We propose a framework of utility competition (UC), and we provide the intuition why price competition (PC), quantity competition (QC) and UC differ, and prove it by using a nonlinear demand system. If the network externality is positive, then PC is the most efficient with the lowest equilibrium price, QC is the least efficient, and UC is in the middle.
