Material Characterization Using Complementary Split-Ring Resonators

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2012
A microwave method based on complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) is proposed for dielectric characterization of planar materials. The technique presents advantages such as high measurement sensitivity and eliminates the extensive sample preparation procedure needed in resonance-based methods.

Microstrip lowpass filter based on split ring and complementary split ring resonators

open access: yesMicrowave and Optical Technology Letters, 2012
AbstractA novel split ring and complementary split ring resonator is proposed in this letter. The proposed resonator can generate two notches without increasing the physical size. A microstrip lowpass filter (LPF) is designed based on the proposed resonator.

Fractal Geometries of Complementary Split-Ring Resonators

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2008
Complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) are typically used as negative-permittivity particles in microstrip left-handed structures. In this paper, novel CSRRs that use a square Sierpinski fractal curve are proposed and studied in detail. It is shown that the application of fractal geometries results in significant miniaturization of the ...

Compact wideband filter element-based on complementary split-ring resonators

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2011
A double resonance defected ground structure is proposed as a filter element. The structure involves a transmission line loaded with complementary split ring resonators embedded in a dumbbell shape defected ground structure. By using a parametric study, it is demonstrated that the two resonance frequencies can be independently tuned.

Equivalent-circuit models for split-ring resonators and complementary split-ring resonators coupled to planar transmission lines

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2005
In this paper, a new approach for the development of planar metamaterial structures is developed. For this purpose, split-ring resonators (SRRs) and complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) coupled to planar transmission lines are investigated. The electromagnetic behavior of these elements, as well as their coupling to the host transmission line ...

Complementary Split Ring Resonators Using Square Sierpinski Fractal Curves

2006 European Microwave Conference, 2006
Split ring resonators and complementary split ring resonators are used in a left-handed media to obtain negative values of permeability and permittivity, respectively. In this paper, novel split ring geometry using square Sierpinski fractal curves is proposed, that reduces resonant frequency of the structure and achieves improved frequency selectivity ...

Investigation of complementary split ring resonators with dielectric ring

2010 Loughborough Antennas & Propagation Conference, 2010
This paper present development in relation to a wideband antenna comprising a disk antenna and a plurality of circular split ring resonators coupled with a high dielectric ring. Using slotted resonators together with optimized air gap in order to achieve elevated bandwidth comes with minor setbacks: moderate gain and directivity, side coupling effect ...

Microstrip Antenna optimization using split ring and complementary split ring resonator

2016 International Conference on Information Communication and Embedded Systems (ICICES), 2016
Excellent Electromagnetic performance of Microstrip Antenna motivates researchers for its optimization. The manuscript suggests the technique to miniaturize patch antenna using Split Ring Resonator and Thin Wire Metamaterial. The Unit Cell of SRR and TW is inserted below the patch mounted on the air substrate.

A novel millimeter wave super lens using split-ring resonator and complementary split-ring resonator

2009 34th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2009
We report a millimeter wave super lens based on the left-handed metamaterial using split-ring resonator (SRR) and complementary SRR (CSRR). The millimeter wave cannot propagate far away due to short wavelength. Therefore, the system for THz or millimeter wave band demands the lens to obtain strong focused signal from weak waves caused by scattering in ...

Metamaterial transmission lines based on split-ring resonators (SRRs) and complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs)

2010 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2010
Microstrip line periodically loaded with split-ring resonators (SRRs) and complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) is designed. By utilizing the CSRRs/gaps and SRRs/inductances combinations, two passbands are observed. Because of the negative permeability offered by SRRs and series capacitances, the negative permittivity offered by CSRRs and shunt ...
