Asymmetric Results About Graph Homomorphisms

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 69, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Many important results in extremal graph theory can be roughly summarized as “if a triangle‐free graph G$$ G $$ has certain properties, then it has a homomorphism to a triangle‐free graph Γ$$ \Gamma $$ of bounded size.” For example, bounds on homomorphism thresholds give such a statement if G$$ G $$ has sufficiently high minimum degree, and ...

Predicting ecological interactions across space through pairwise integration of latent network patterns

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 8, Page 2494-2509, August 2026.
Abstract Ecological communities are complex and exhibit considerable spatial variability, presenting challenges in accurately understanding these systems. A primary obstacle in ecological research is the existence of ‘missing links’ between species: inevitable unobserved interactions that limit our comprehension of ecological networks and their ...

Knowledge Spillover Network and Optimal R&D Policy in Oligopoly

open access: yesJournal of Public Economic Theory, Volume 28, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper studies optimal R&D policy in a Cournot oligopoly with network‐based knowledge spillovers. Generalizing the standard two‐stage model of Kamien et al. (1992), we characterize the socially optimal policy by decomposing the net externality of private innovation into three channels: the market expansion effect, direct knowledge ...

Global Population Structure and Dynamics of Wheat Powdery Mildew

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 15, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The global movement of pests and pathogens can often be traced to human migratory activities that include the movement of agricultural crops. The causal agent of wheat powdery mildew, the ascomycete fungus Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici (B. graminis f. sp.

Investigating GERMs: how genotype, environment, and rhizosphere microbiome interactions underlie heat response in maize and sorghum

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 2152-2167, August 2026.
Three genotypes – a heat‐resistant maize (Zea mays), a heat‐susceptible maize, and a sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) variety – were grown to the V4 stage in growth chambers under optimal conditions or subjected to heat stress. Plants were grown in soil containing a complex microbial community, or in the same soil with a depleted microbiome.
