Complete footprint of lifting reentry vehicles
Acta Astronautica, 1990Abstract In this Note, the optimal 3-dimensional fly-back reentry trajectory for minimum longitudinal range is solved. The maximum lift-to-drag ratio is constrained to a reasonable limit. As compared with the fly-back reentry trajectory in the vertical plane, we found that it gives the global minimum longitudinal range.

The purpose of this communication is to survey a theory of liftings, as developed in author's thesis ([8]). The first result in this area was Shelah's construction of a model of set theory in which every automorphism ofP(ℕ)/ Fin, where Fin is the ideal of finite sets, istrivial, or inother words, it is induced by a function mapping integers into ...

The Completely Positive Lifting Problem for C ∗ -algebras
The Annals of Mathematics, 1976(1.1)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~1 where A, B are C*-algebras (resp., unital C*-algebras), J is a closed twosided ideal in B, 7 is the quotient map, and A, * are contractive (resp., unital) completely positive maps. The lifting problem for q is to determine whether or not one can find * so that the diagram commutes.

Linear liftings for non-complete probability spaces
Israel Journal of Mathematics, 1992In a previous paper the second author showed that it is consistent with ZFC that the Lebesgue measure restricted to the Borel \(\sigma\)-algebra on \([0,1]\) has no lifting [see \textit{S. Shelah}, Isr. J. Math. 45, 90-96 (1983; Zbl 0549.03041)]. Modifying the technique of the above paper the authors establish the main result of the present paper, i.e.,
