From cheek swabs to consensus sequences : an A to Z protocol for high-throughput DNA sequencing of complete human mitochondrial genomes [PDF]
Background: Next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS) technologies have made huge impacts in many fields of biological research, but especially in evolutionary biology. One area where NGS has shown potential is for high-throughput sequencing of complete mtDNA

The complete mitochondrial genome of Cichla ocellaris [PDF]
In this study, the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of Cichlao cellaris was determined. The mt genome has a length of 16,526 bp and encodes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and one AT-rich non-coding region (D-loop). The gene arrangement was similar to those of typical fishes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Luffa acutangula [PDF]
Based on PacBio de novo assembly, we report the first complete mitochondrial genome of Luffa acutangula (460,333 bp) containing nine large chloroplast-derived sequences (1.9-17.3 kb) across the mitogenome. The base composition of the mitogenome in descending order is A: 28.02%, C: 22.04%, G: 21.83% and T: 28.10%, and the G + C content is 43.87%.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Leiocassis crassilabris (Teleostei, Siluriformes: Bagridae) [PDF]
The Leiocassis crassilabris is an important economic fish in China, and is widely distributed in south China, e.g. Yangtze River, Pearl River, and Min River, so it is a good model to study population genetics and geological changes of these regions.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Loligo japonica [PDF]
In this study, we determined the complete mitochondrial genome of Loligo japonica. The genome was 17,232 bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 3 main non-coding regions. The overall base composition of L. japonica is A 39.60%, C 18.22%, T33.38% and G 8.80%, with a highly A + T bias of 72.98%
