A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

PARETO-OPTIMAL REGION OF MASS-TRAJECTORY PARAMETERS OF TRANSFORMER AVIATION SYSTEM

open access: yesSučasnì Informacìjnì Tehnologìï u Sferì Bezpeki ta Oboroni, 2015
The paper considers on the search optimal variants problem of transformer aviation systems construction. At the same time massively-trajectory parameters of the system are determined, which characterize the transformer with sufficient completeness and ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Predictors of left ventricular ejection fraction in high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
Revascularization completeness after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with improved long-term outcomes. Mechanical circulatory support [intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) or Impella] is used during high-risk PCI (HR-PCI) to enhance ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Completing an uncertainty criterion of classification

open access: yesMathware & soft computing, 2005
We present a variation of a method of classification based in uncertainty on credal set. Similarly to its origin it use the imprecise Dirichlet model to create the credal set and the same uncertainty measures. It take into account sets of two variables to reduce the uncertainty and to seek the direct relations between the variables in the data base and

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

A differential criterion for complete intersections

open access: yesCollectanea mathematica, 1997
Let \(A\) be a noetherian ring whose maximal spectrum has dimension at most 1. For instance, \(A\) can be a noetherian local ring or an order in a number field. Let \(B\) be a finite projective \(A\)-algebra that becomes étale over the total ring of quotients of \(A\). In this note it is shown that \(B\) is of the form \(A[X_1,\dots,X_n]/(f_1,\dots,f_n)
