Complex Eigenvalue Analysis of Plasmonic Waveguides

Integrated Photonics Research, Silicon and Nanophotonics and Photonics in Switching, 2010
Complex eigenvalue problems of plasmonic waveguide nanostructures are solved using FEM and MMP solvers. For improving MMP performance, new eigenvalue search functions are studied. Several plasmonic structures are analyzed and the field solvers are compared.

HOMOGENEOUS EIGENVALUE ANALYSIS FOR COMPLEX HOMOGENEOUS SYSTEMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007
Abstract In this paper, we analyze the stability of complex homogeneous systems by homogeneous eigenvalues. First, we redefine the complex homogeneity. Second, we obtain some properties of complex homogeneous functions, complex homogeneous vector fields, and complex homogeneous systems. Finally, we analyze the stability of complex homogeneous systems

Brake Squeal: Complex Eigenvalue versus Dynamic Transient Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Brake squeal from either disc brakes or drum brakes has been one of the major concerns in the automotive industry due to the persistent complaint that reduces customers' satisfaction with their vehicle. In order to understand, predict and prevent brake squeal, experimental and numerical approaches have been used ...

Advances in Complex Eigenvalue Analysis for Brake Noise

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Brake squeal has been analyzed by finite elements for some time. Among several methods, complex eigenvalue analysis is proving useful in the design process. It requires hardware verification and it falls into a simulation process.

STABILITY AND CONTROLLABILITY OF ASYMMETRIC COMPLEX DYNAMICAL NETWORKS: EIGENVALUE ANALYSIS

International Journal of Modern Physics C, 2009
The stability and controllability of asymmetric complex dynamical networks are investigated in detail based on eigenvalue analysis. Pinning control is suggested to stabilize the homogenous stationary state of the whole coupled network. The complicated coupled problem is reduced to two independent problems: clarifying the stable regions of the coupled ...

Complex Eigenvalue Analysis for Reducing Low Frequency Brake Squeal

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2000
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">A front disc brake system is used as an example for an investigation of low frequency squeal. Many different modifications to this disc brake system have been proposed and this paper focuses on a solution that reduces the stiffness of the rotor.

Real modal analysis with complex conjugate eigenvalues

International Journal of Systems Science, 1988
Abstract The synthesis of a real eigenvector matrix for real systems with complex conjugate eigenvalues provides a real (cc-block) diagonal canonical form for real modal analysis.

Complex Eigenvalue Analysis of Railway Curve Squeal

2008
A finite element complex eigenvalue analysis of curve squeal is carried out. Two models for the wheel tread/rail top contact and the wheel flange root/rail gauge corner contact are established. In the both models, the contact between the wheel and rail is simulated with a spring.

Complex eigenvalues in stability analysis of nonlinear planar guided waves

Optics Communications, 1992
Abstract The stability characteristics of the anti-symmetric TE 1 stationary wave in symmetric nonlinear planar waveguides (SNPW) is investigated both analytically and numerically. It is shown, for the first time, that eigenvalues of the corresponding linear stability analysis can be complex in a certain range of parameters.
